I feel your pain guys. We are working poor (husband and I plus kids) and pay 510$ a month for our vehicles. My car payments is only 213$. His truck gets only PLPD. Its screwed up. If gas gets hiked 45 cents.... smh. I asked my husband who's lived in MI his whole life, if he'd consider moving when I finish school. Not long to go. I'm done with this state. I love it, and itll always be home but I'm fed up.

It is not medical greed we have the highest rayes because we do not have aca representative that has control to mandate rayes in our state like other states across the country. No punitive dames. So they can( the insurance co) and laugh all the way to the back. Nothing to stop them from raising rates. Paid professional whores.?

People don’t even want to make claims or their insurance goes up. They have insurance that they can’t even use for fear that they have to pay a penalty for using it. Where is the sense in that? Just sounds like someone else getting rich off of the poor. Shame on them.

This is criminal. Do you know how many people will end up unable to afford to drive now? You can't drive, you can't make it to your job. If you can't make it to your job, you can't afford to pay your bills. Not to mention how this is going to hurt the automobile industry. Nobody is going to want to buy or lease a new car because the insurance is so much more on newer vehicles. A lot of people live paycheck to paycheck...and not by choice. This basically just gave all them the middle finger.

Combine this with the fact that wages have not grown in 40 years (CEO's made 20x more than workers in 1965 and now make 312x more than workers), and income inequality.. and this is just not sustainable for our country or our economy. After all, it is the workers/consumers that drive the economy. Economics 101. They better wake tf up b4 it's too late.

I'm a single 31 year old ex-service member using USAA Auto Insurance. I have a perfect driving record without any infractions or accidents in my lifetime. Shopping for a new vehicle, I'm pigeonholed into making certain choices. I even took a look at a 2015 Tesla, 1 owner. I figure, why not at least eliminate having to pay for gas while being more environmentally responsible? The Tesla was going to cost me $811.00 per MONTH. That's significantly more than the car payment would have been. Right now I'm paying $231 a month for a 10 year old Saab 9-3, with most coverage declined and a $1000 deductible. I work for a local government and have excellent health coverage, and yet I'm forced to buy UNLIMITED PIP which is easily exploited. Meanwhile my premiums go up every year instead of being rewarded for my good driving habbits. DO. SOMETHING.

I'm in the same boat. Every time I renew I've expected my premiums to go down (like they used to at least, even ten years ago). They keep raising rates. I renewed last week and got a pretty big surprise. I go through AAA, cheapest around, and my guy explained to me how the hospitals, etc gouge the hell out of insurance companies. They've been trying to fight this since 2015. He told me about an oped that a Traverse City hospital wrote, saying if this law changed they'd go bankrupt and close. Smh. B.s! Hospitals all over the country manage to make enough to stay open without gouging!!! Its greed pure and simple and it's out of control.

Yeah for my car (full coverage b.c of owing money on it still), I pay 325$ with a 1000$ deductible. They also should only go by driving record. Not credit rating, occupation, and a bunch of criteria that has NOTHING to do with our driving ability. I had progressive last year and was fooling around with our insurance online...I changed my husband's profession from contractor/carpenter to architect and it knocked off another $70 a month!!!! How crazy is that!!? I was still paying about $720 a month tho, which is why I switched to triple A. I had just purchased a new/used Impala and my premium skyrocketed.

@@BKind-ht6zf Right. I don't understand, at all, why certain things hike rates like that. When I filed for divorce and let my insurance know, my monthly expenses went up $90.00 per month. What the hell? That's one less, younger driver on the road. How is that a DETRIMENT? I tried shopping around at other car insurance agencies and USAA was monumentally cheaper. Progressive told me my insurance would be $419.00 per month for a damn USED beater 2009 Saab 9-3! For kicks, I changed my address to an Ohio address and my premium dropped to $73.00 per month. I've also considered a few other vehicles like a Dodge Charger. For WHATEVER REASON the 3.6L V6 (Smaller, slower engine) cost MORE per month than the 5.7L HEMI V8. Something VERY fishy is going on.

What Mike doesn't tell you is that in New Jersey they have what's called a ''Dollar Per Day'' policy or thirty dollars a month policy and in Calif they also have a low income policy for $300 plus dollars per year. Mike knows this because l gave him a copy of these insurance programs. Also Detroit drivers are paying more that $2400 a year i was given a quote from Liberty Mutual for $900 plus dollars per month. And it was said that over 50 percent of the drivers in Michigan has no insurance not 20 per cent as Mike claims.
