Wonderful driving! Out of interest, and perhaps lack of knowledge - I know that modern cars have syncro and double clutching is not really necessary....but owning a ND Miata, and hearing about some gearboxes have died, I am wondering if double cluching would benefit the gearbox i.e. cause less wear and shock to internals...? I am always double clutching, but not always very smoothly, and surely single clutch downshifting would allow better control of my rev-matching....anyone knows? Thx

Just practise it while driving at everyday slowish speeds first, slow engine speed so you dont get a nasty surprise by screwing it up. If you have to change down during normal driving while approaching a corner or even a junction, just try it. It's not hard it just takes practice. Heel and toe can definitely be used in everyday driving.

@Lockdown Guitar ok cool, thanks man
@GlassOnion23
Жыл бұрын
@@coltonniemann9811 Nah man. I respectfully disagree with Lockdown Guitar. The engine needs to rev higher whenever you downshift. That's what downshifting means. You can either slowly let go of the clutch and have it do the rev matching for you, in the process making the downshift slow and wearing your clutch out way more especially at high rpms, or you blip the throttle yourself so downshifts are smooth and quick. It's not just a racing technique. I blip the throttle on every single downshift I do with my lowly econobox VW Golf just daily driving the thing. I even heel-and-toe downshift everytime too. Lots of people daily driving manual cars do. Some manual drivers think this is just a racing technique and is optional otherwise. To me and a lot of people, it's just the proper way to drive a manual car. Everyone can learn how to do it, especially with a car like the Miata. Just takes practice.

@@alessandroabatantuono4733 the point is when ever I am down shifting, I am trying to slow down. so what is the problem with slowing down
@GlassOnion23
Жыл бұрын
@@AnnoyingPlastic What happens when you downshift? Let's say you're doing 50 kph at 4th gear at 3000 rpm. Now you want to downshift to 3rd while maintaining the same speed. What happens to the rpm? They rise right? So at 3rd gear at 50 kph, the engine is now at, let's say, 4000 rpm. How do you get the engine to rev to that rpm smoothly? You press the throttle just enough to rev it to 4k while you're downshifting to 3rd. That's called rev matching. Stick drivers who don't know about rev matching let the clutch out slowly as they're downshifting, relying on the clutch to bring engine speed to the right rpm. It's just not the right way to do it. You're putting undue stress on your clutch and other parts of the transmission and it can't be done quickly especially at high rpms or you risk upsetting the car. With rev matching, downshifting takes less than a second. You gotta rev match every single time you downshift. Now what about when you need to downshift while braking? That's what the guy in this video is doing. He's pressing the brake pedal, downshifting, and pressing the throttle all at the same time so that the downshift is smooth and fast. That's called heel-and-toe downshifting. I hope you see why it's necessary to do this. If not, just search for heel and toe downshift here on KZitem. There are tons of videos that hopefully can explain it to you better. You have to learn how to do this while driving a manual. Just keep practicing. That's where all the fun is in driving stick.

Si reduces una marcha sin hacer punta-tacón, las revoluciones suben bruscamente pero cuando reduces una marcha haciendo punta - tacón, esa marcha encontrará las revoluciones alta y no entrará de golpe. También cuidas la transmisión.
