OK so this is the 2nd round after beating the MCP once (2nd time around you get twice as many points for each bit pair match). The death at the beginning was due to having it paused and not remembering I was in the latch, oh well. This is on the fastest scrolling speed. The numbers at the beginning on the bottom from left to right represent energy units, number of zeroes, and lives left. When at the MCP they are the round, points, and number of MCP laser hits left you can take.
To those wondering about what's actually going on at the MCP, you have to shoot the inner column numbers to match the top ones on the outside columns. For each pair match you get points. When you miss a matching bit pair, the outside columns move up one and the pairs to match change. Once all the numbers in the outside columns move up, you return to the "tron world" circuit board or what have you. The inner columns start to speed up, and you can only be hit by the MCP 3 times, blocking his shots by activating the shield. You can never really technically "defeat" him, you just rack up as many points as you can, with each round you face him you get more points for each bit pair (I believe it's 100/pr 1st round, 200/pr 2nd round & so on). Back in the day games were more about players competing to get higher scores, not so much about just "beating the game". So no, I do not think you can technically beat this game.
