That song is 30 years old now. So hard to believe how times have changed since then. 90s were the end of simple life and awesome country music.

We had been married less than a year. We had a very small baby. We were already heading for divorce. My friend told me to fight for my marriage. I hadn't even thought of that before she said that. Then I heard this song on the radio. I knew it was a sign from the Lord. After listening to this song, I started patching up my marriage. We had two more beautiful children together. We ended after 20 years. But because of this song (and my friend's advice), I have 3 beautiful children from my former husband instead of 1...and lots of great memories. Thank you, McBride and the Ride!

my ex wife and I met in high school, we had a little girl together. I ended up working two jobs to support her and our child. She then decided to venture out while I was working. She met a man and decided to leave with him. I then took full custody of my child, around 5 months later she came knocking on my door. Apparently the other guy got what he wanted and then dropped her. I couldn't accept her apology. Friends and family seen her homeless and begging throughout the years. My daughter is now 29 and don't know her. My daughter calls my now wife Mom. I have 2 grandbabies now. I hope she is okay, but I always kept my cool...she decided to try the other path with a man full of promises that he had no intentions on keeping. My daughter still thanks me to this day for standing my ground and not allowing this woman to hurt us again.

Now this is the kind of country (progressive) that I love to this day! Great harmonies, melodies, and musicianship that are sorely missing in today's music. How I hope great groups like McBride and the Ride, Restless Heart, Blackhawk, Little Texas, Diamond Rio, Confederate Railroade, Alabama, etc. will re-emerge as the gold-standard of modern country music! It's simply too good a genre to fade away! Thanks for posting this memorable song and video.

I saw these guys in concert in Stone Mountain Park in 90. It was raining like crazy and it was an outdoor concert. Billy Ray Cyrus was also a headliner. In another part of the park Confederate Railroad was appearing. It was a Great Day for music, even with the rain. Billy Ray sang Some Gave All at the laser show that night. McBride was Top Shelf! Hundreds or thousands of people standing in the rain listening to music. They had to delay their shows a time or two because of hard rain getting their instruments wet and even a little lightning but they came back out and finished their shows.

This song makes my eyes well up with tears every time I hear it, because I went through an extremely painful divorce in 09 that I'm still reeling over. The pain is still as fresh today as it was then. I was raised that marriage is forever, and the line that "we were joined in the eyes of the Lord" gets me every single time, because I still think like that, but I guess that she never did.

+rockinthesouth Thank you so much for your comment. Even though it's 6 years later, I can't shake that promise I made to my ex-wife in front of both of our families and God. We were together since 8th grade and engaged in the 11th grade. I do admit that I wasn't an ideal husband sometimes, but I stood by my ex no matter what happened. But she just didn't have the same level of commitment, and I found out too little too late because when the bad times came, she cut and ran. I hope that one day I'll find a woman that shares that same mindset, but I don't really believe that today's women think that way. They view marriage as something that you can terminate if you don't like the way that it's going, and I just don't see it that way.
@rockinthesouth
8 жыл бұрын
Michael.... you done your part, you stayed through the good times & the bad. Isn't that part of the Wedding Vows? Some people don't realize what they have until it's too late. Obviously she made a huge mistake by leaving. In today's times, you don't find someone that is devoted enough to stand by the words they spoke on their Wedding Day. Her loss is another woman's gain. I wish you all the luck in the world. I pray you find inner peace, and happiness. Some day the door will open up to a new love for you. Embrace it....
