Black women, girls, and femmes as young as seven and as old as ninety-three have been killed by the police, though we rarely hear their names. #SayHerName provides an analytical framework for understanding Black women's susceptibility to police brutality and it explains how we can mobilize for racial justice.
The MCF Book Club: Reading for a Liberated Future is proud to present this critical conversation with author Kimberlé Crenshaw, professor of law at UCLA and Columbia Law School and co-founder and executive director of the African American Policy Forum (AAPF) in honor of Crenshaw’s book #SayHerName: Black Women’s Stories of Police Violence and Public Silence.
Professor Crenshaw will be joined by artivist Kim Yancey, songstress and Artist in Residence at the African American Policy Forum Abby Dobson, and Ms. Rhanda Dormeus and Ms. Valarie Carey, two members of the #SayHerName Mothers Network.
