Because I don't see enough comments about this, the interviewer seriously made the wrong conclusions about Mckenna's character. She is a TRAUMATIZED GIRL. NOT a "badass woman." She was forced into sex slavery probably as young as 12 years old. Please reconsider your take and don't EVER consider a 14-year-old a woman because she acts mature enough for you to forget her age... that's disgusting.
@lazeywinde6113

Yes! I was getting so pissed off how he kept referring to her as a woman, a young woman, etc. She's not a young woman, she's a CHILD. That's the point. McKenna isn't an adult and neither is her character.
@casie6609
3 жыл бұрын
I think he meant that since she's gone through so much, she had to grow up more quickly than most. Her maturity grew because of that. Obviously she's a teenager (they're always forced into it at 14+ in the show I think) and shouldn't have to act like an adult, but she is trying to be strong because she has to be. I'm trying to give the interviewer the benefit of the doubt because it might've just been a poor choice of words.
@Mreverydaythings

She can be both traumatized and also a "badass" , maybe you should rethink your take on things and not the other way around, McKenna is wise for her age and the interviewer did a great job a of staying in bounds while also asking great questions, so maybe you need to rethink your outlook on life

I’m really impressed with her level of maturity for her age. It definitely is a bit unsettling to see a girl her age in a show like this but I think she makes a good point that essentially it *should* make you uncomfortable. I think the fact rolls for her age group are often cast to older actors is doing everyone a disservice because for one thing it makes it easier to ignore that 14, 15, 16 year olds are children. When you have a 20 year old playing a 16 year old it makes it a lot easier to remove the fact that the character is in fact a child. There are girls in America today that are child brides and it’s horrifying. That’s something that we need to be confronted with, not turn a blind eye to and she is incredibly wise for her age to be able to recognize and call that out so eloquently.
