توجد دمنات بقدم جبال الاطلس الكبير على بعد حوالي 100 كلم من مدينة مراكش. تعيش بها جالية يهودية مهمة ومزدهرة يعود وجودها الى القرن 11م الى حدود سنة 1964 تاريخ مغادرة ٱ خر العائلات الملاح.
منذ ذلك الوقت كل علامات الحضور اليهودي اختفت. لا واحد من الكنائس اليهودية السبعة التي كانت بالملاح بقيت مع الزمن. كنيس تحول الى مسجد، الستة الاخرين هدموا. المعالم الباقية الشاهدة على الوجود اليهودي بدمنات ضريح القديس سيد اهارون هكوكين. الموجود بالضفة المقابلة للمقبرة. اليهودي. حيث يدفن الكوهانيم.
Demnate est située au pied des montagnes du Haut Atlas, à environ 100 km de la ville de Marrakech. Une communauté juive importante et prospère y vit, dont la présence remonte au XIe siècle après JC jusqu'en 1964, date du départ de la dernière des familles du Mellah.
Depuis, tous les signes de la présence juive ont disparu. Aucune des sept églises juives qui faisaient partie du mellah n’a survécu à l’époque.
