I don't care for multi-tools. They can do several things poorly and cost way too much.

Totally, it's not about replacing your full-on toolkit, but about having that extra versatility. Just like you can't always lug around a heavy DSLR, a phone camera can be a handy alternative for casual snaps. And it's not like you have to break the bank for these multitools either. Brands like Nextool and Roxon offer pretty solid quality without the hefty price tag. Even some Leatherman Wave lookalikes give you a great deal of utility without costing an arm and a leg.

@@KennyClimmil But most of the tools will never be used and most are useless. I picked up one Leatherman years ago because it was just folding pliers and a knife, but it was a bit small. But look at a Swiss Army Knife... one OK at best, but at least a sharp blade. A second smaller blade is thrown in for no reason. A cord screw for opening wine bottles when I do not drink alcohol ever.... then there is the worst file made by mankind and a saw that will never cut anything. Worst yet is people putting this crap in a 40 pound survival pack. Of course it is 40 pounds because they have 50 different fire starters and a gallon of water.
