Happy memories. I was 8 at the time and remember it like yesterday. Crowds lined the roads from Durham all the way down the A690 when they came back with the cup. I was next to the museum when they came past in the open top bus..just fantastic memories!

Excellent stuff. Not only does it show how important football was to Sunderland, but a great example of how it can unite a community, and indeed shows how wonderful community spirit was in the those days. Also shows how valued the FA cup was then. Can you imagine people celebrating in the street now?

As a Sunderland fan that was so special & poignant. As a footy fan in general, that is what we had before SKY, the suits, the Taylor report and millionaire reserve team mercenaries stoke and then ultimately destroyed the beautiful game. Big respect to the Chelsea fans who commented on here. I mourn the passing of the shed - good and bad :-(

Aye a great set of vids, like one post on here said this vid should be shown to all new Sunderland signings so they know what football and SAFC means to the Town/City. Just a thought, funny how all the older hens on the vid look like my Nana, bless her...
