Great info - I have not been able to get my meat program to fire. Hopefully this will change our luck with meat rigs.

I have some Big One cut bait from 4 years ago. They’ve only been refrigerated and I ran them last season (3yrs old) and they were still good. Held together fine and caught fish. Downfall, I’m from the Toronto area, 45 minutes from their location and they charged me American funds

Hi again Chris! Do you know by chance what size tubing Dreamweaver has on their meat heads? And does Big One Cur Bait do herring since here in SD. herring and smelt is their major food source! Thanks!

I'm not sure on either. You can contact them and see what they say.

Can you use smelt for cut bait on meatrigs or are they too small? When using braid for dipsy could I use a heavier poundage than 30 ld. Or just go straight to wire for dipsys?
@tangledtacklefishing

Wire is best but if using broad don’t go less than 50lbs. Smelt can be used if you have some big enough.

Hey Chris just wondered do you run the thick cut or thin cut meat from "the big one cut bait"?
@tangledtacklefishing

Thick cut. I just trim it down if needed.

With the meat I've had stiff and soggy ones from the same brand does that have a effect in them and should one not be used?

It really shouldn’t matter. As long as they are not falling apart they should work fine.

Hi Chris, new to salmon fishing on lake Michigan, i live in TN but my daughter and son in-law live in Escanaba and i plan on fishing the week of June 19th 2021, i purchased a 21 foot with downriggers and have spent a lot of money on rod, reels and tackle. I have fished all my life i am originality from England fishing for carp then New England fishing for Tuna and strip bass, now the great lakes. any help on me catching a salmon and letting my grandsons catch them would be much appreciated. trying to get the kids involved and have fun.

The best suggestion I can give you is just get out there and go for it. You’ll make mistakes, just like we all did, but you’ll learn from them. Take a good look around this channel. We have tons of videos with great info to help you out. Good luck!

The saltists have to high of gearing compared to the tekotas though. The reel works great but wouldn't want them for anymore then a rigger rod.

I always thought it to be the opposite but I could be wrong. I don’t know of anyone who doesn’t run it on the finned side.

I buy ballyhoo from baitmasters in Miami and cut and brine them myself. Half the price of local bait shops around the Great Lakes.
