This game introduced me to battletech/mechwarrior. I remember as a child when I played this (about the age of 4 years old) it always made me feel as though I was actually the pilot of a walking tank in the 31st century on some far off planet all alone with only my lance mates and field base as my only allies. This game had me so immersed all the time. It always game me a sense of loneliness. And dispare. Like you where fighting not only your enemy (mechwarriors of clan smoke jaguar) but also the environment. The environment can either help you or work against you. (Like standing in water to cool your mech down. Or it could be so hot you can't shoot back at your enemy) such an amazing game I really miss playing it...

Agree on most points, I just wish the heat and the multiplayer net-code was more like MW4 or Shooters meaning network/internet lag/latency did not give you an advantage. Edit: To clarify, i am not saying MW4 was better overall. The weapon balance was way off, the way MW4 did missiles super uninteresting, the autocannons were just animations but the game logic had a single projectile simulated unlike MW3… so many things wrong. All mech games have issues.

Probably the best sim-quality of any game in the franchise. The behind enemy lines campaign finishing off the Jags was amazing. I like the years from the Clan Invasion to the Fed Comm civil war. A plethora of new and good mechs in the revival that followed in the wake of the Succession Wars, and new weapons. Owens, Strider, Avatar, Sunder. The Inner Sphere Omnimechs were some of the best in this game.

This game has by far the best level of detail in it, especially when accounting for the technology difference between this and the disappointingly blah MW5. The simple fact you can blow a crater into the ground and then hide in it is amazing. Add to that the adorable destruction physics of unique and interesting architecture as well as vast terrain. MW3 really is a gem. If I had to pick a complaint or two it would be that the soundtrack is too short and the game is very finicky to run.
@johnathanera5863

I'm not even sure the second one counts as a complaint. That's just a fact of tech advancement. It's impossible to completely future proof your games.

I would add the netcode in MW3 was trash for multiplayer. MW4 fixed this adopting the typical first person shooter standard where your latency was your problem. Unfortunately MW4 inexplicably fucked up the weapon balance making small and medium lasers useless.
@depth386

@@jubjub15 I found this part of the game very meh, I usually just ran back all the way for the sake of keeping the repair vehicles as safe as possible. Also if anything blocked their path, even your lancemate, they would get terribly confused.

I find myself coming back to this comment months later. When I think about Autocannons in MW3 vs MW4 I’m angry that they were so lazy in MW4 where the animation shows a bunch of rapid shots but the game logic is one projectile at the start of the animation. In MW3 it simulated every projectile you saw on the screen and you could spray it as necessary. If MW3 could also have MWO’s torso twist pitch/yaw and arm pitch/yaw speeds it would be perfection in that context. It’s just a shame the netcode wasn’t right until MW4.

Homestly if you wanted to help in the reboot you can make new sound tracks for the game in each operation or sub ops mission areas including the existing music in the sound track play list of the game. Yes there is a reboot of the game but it's under private development and the rights to the game is being or has been bought to do a reboot.
