Thanks for bringing it down to earth! You mean you've had the same questions Ollie? I thought I was the only one struggling in my mind! Good examples for improving!

So can I tell them that my weakness is remembering names? Or is this also digging my own grave? Because names in this context also extends to common names of chemicals, long greek words and names of scientists.

I honestly don't think it matters too much as long as you understand why that weakness is important and more crucially what you would do to mitigate it

I was going to talk about my anxiety and how it is difficult to manage in a healthy and productive way. I manage this by visiting my GP/going to therapy. Alongside this I was going to mention learning about positive and negative attributional styles and how using a more positive attributional style has also helped me. However I'm not sure if that will come across like im waffling or rambling. What do you think?

Sounds okay to me! Your relationship with anxiety is your own, but if you've framed it as a weakness that you're taking ownership of and taking steps to be better at managing, then that seems perfectly sensible. Not only that but shows awareness of your mental health and its importance as a future doctor.

Is crippling anxiety a weakness?

I think something like that depends entirely on personal perspective and how they relate to their condition.

would it be too cliche if you talk about a weakness that you already overcame (?)

Depends, I think if you present it as a weakness that you "improved at" but are "continually working on" that would sound more mature because you recognize the power it has over you and then go on to describe the steps you took to "overcome" or "address" the weakness. At the end of the day just be honest with yourself and make a list of 3-5 things in your life whether professional, academic, or personal that you know you need to work on and talk about those or how you improved at them!
