They give a few here and there. I don't believe America or some of these guys like to admit, but these battles were fought by mostly 20yr olds. The things these special forces guys talk about over their careers are not half of what regular Army, Rangers, and Marines did on a day to day basis. Neither of those battles were going to be one or lost because of the various specialty fighters, Seals, Green Berets, MARSOC Marines. They did great work but held no bearing on the outcome.

This dudes unit replaced us in Afghanistan. 4th Infantry Division replaced us, 1st Infantry Division in the summer of 2009. I was in the Kunar in Eastern Afghanistan.

In his" 8 seconds of courage" he distilled the very essense of who he is as a man ,a soldier and a leader ,i hope he realises that though he lost 4 of his brothers he saved 22 men including a future general ,in those 8 seconds he redirected an effective vest from hitting the target ,i suspect the investigation would of shown substancially more devastating loss of life had he and his team not reacted as they did -Damn Mike this interview of the many i have listened too of yours was truely epic .Thank You.

Great show as usual. Interesting to hear the point of view from an Officer. When I was serving with 82nd as a young enlisted guy in the Infantry I saw both kinds of new LTs. The ones that came in like him were accepted and trusted almost immediately and greatly respected.

Compared to other wars, Afghanistan was nothing. You know how many Americans were KIA the whole 20 years in Afghanistan? Less than 2,000. That's literally nothing. Russia lost that many people the first week in Ukraine.

@@ObamaFromKenya welp, running up to the kid and throwing him to the ground is a ridiculous thing to do…(that’s assault, and soldiers are not trained to do that) there was a mass cas in his team by doing that…should of maintained distance and used his rifle as the deterrent, while telling his team he has eyes on a sketchy kid at 11 o’clock, 30 meters…(that’s what we’re trained to do, and that’s not hindsight quarterbacking, it’s literally the ROE SOP)…Mike even asked him, where was your rifle during this??? Mike knows too…

We had a SFAT and FET with us in 2012 Northern Afghanistan. Quickest way to get blown up is to listen to them. A separate team got hit just like this story killed 4 just like this I'm literally speeches after hearing this story its dejavu
