The grinding noise is very common on them. The friction ball on the lock bar gets a bit if dust or a little metal filing in it. There should be a grove on the blade where it rides. Scrub it with a dry q-tip then a very small amount of gun oil on the friction surface

Nice! Like the new format and congrats on hitting over 1k subs! I would agree Medford’s are the most ridiculous knife to EDC and I think it’s also worth noting I bought my new Ti Vulcan DP in s35 this year for $1300 direct from MKT. They can be had for much less than $2k but your observations even at $1300 I would still agree with. Happy to see someone else who would put Greg into the classic American knife makers/designers category. I mean Strider, Reeve, Hinderer, Fuller, Harsey, Ritter, Osborne, Purdue, Walker, Demko, Hoback, MEDFORD! And many more. All names I would highly suggest to folks interested in knife history. Appreciate the good review. I carry mine when I’m feeling like a baller. 10/10 swag points in my book, a fair 6/10 EDC because my hands are smaller and it fits pretty well, cuts what I need and carries nicely in my basket ball shorts lol but I would still much prefer my CRK at half the cost or even better a Hogue Doug Ritter in 20CV carries well and cuts like a laser for $160. Keep up the good videos 👊🏻⚔️

First off brother, this was a fantastic comment. So I bought this off of my buddy Dirk and he paid like 2,100 for it and he even shipped the knife with the bill of sale, so it definitely sold for over 2k. Though as you can tell by the hardware this is a much older model, from what I understand it was actually one of the first to use S35vn back when it was just a “flash batch” of knives instead of the norm like it is now.

@@RedwolfEDC I’ve noticed the dealer pricing on Ti’s seem to be pretty high compared to ordering direct, maybe they factor in the build time, took mine 5 months to be made. I want to repeat the comment provided by B Dubz 8 months ago in this comment section. If people would read his comment, it would then make most of the other comments and opinions here totally irrelevant. People are making comments about this knife from the wrong perspective. Here is a guy everyone needs to listen to...comment from B Dubz: "The Praetorian was designed with the deployed war fighter in mind, not the average Joe. It was meant to pry doors open, pry open locked lockers and chests and anything you may need to get into during a mission. It's a combat-centric cutting, pry tool. The jimping and size were meant for a gloved combat warrior during mission, it wasn't designed for a bare hand. If you reviewed the knife from the combat mission perspective as it was meant to be used, your review may have been far different. I've been in combat, and have several custom knives, some are made for EDC for the average Joe, and some are made as a combat tool. The Praetorian TI is made for combat, and does it's job well."

Great Review. I own 2 x Praetorian Ti's and I agree with much of your experience. I do have to disagree with your opinion on the price. If you factor in the size, thickness/weight of the materials and (most of all) the fact that there is NO other production knife that is as unique, bad ass and iconic as a Praetorian Ti I think it is well worth the price. As a bonus the customs hold thier value in the secondary market because they are so unique.

But it's so f'n heavy that it feels like it's weighing down ur pocket. Unless i'm wearing heavy cargo pants, it literally droops down, and in that regard it did suck and drove me nuts. T is prob a better choice. U can buy the replicas on aliexpress for $20. They actually carry like any other knife imo. I finally pulled the trigger on a T. Now I have to wait like 6 months for it to arrive 😫. These knife companies that get these cool custom Ti's mark the prices way the F up too. Another one I have been really happy with is the medford 187 DPT, mine is heavily modified but even from the factory they are pretty great. The CRK Zaan is also an absolute work horse with an amazing warranty that covers everything you could want if you keep it stock and 85% of everything you could want if you modified it. If you can carry an otf in your area I would also highly recommend the GT recon 040, that has been my user for years now and it's held up literally perfectly, you can barely even tell I use the thing which is crazy cause I have put that knife through absolute hell.

1 ergonomics while deployed are more essential then ever, 2 ounces are pounds, 3 these knives are famous for falling apart during hard use (locks fail and, the literal stop pin falls out etc etc) 4 the profile of this blade hangs up on materals, even a unloaded plate carrier stops it much less something fully loaded, 5 I have med Greg Medford many times, I have several friends on his crew and it's common knowledge that Greg is a pathological lier who wildly exaggerates what these knives can do and what they have been through (Amy and 90% of his crew are great though). Don't believe the propaganda.

You may have paid $2k for that knife, but there are several features missing and issues present that objectively keep that from being a $2k knife. I would have a hard time even calling that a $600 knife, but we're getting into subjectivity, there. I've owned a ton of Medford's, and a few ground/made by them but other than the 187DP that I broke, I never kept any longer than a month or so. I certainly wouldn't put them anywhere near Hinderer or CR. Close enough to Strider, but that's hardly anything to strive for. Edit: probably should have watched till the end. Yeah there is no "Holy Trinity" in the knife making community. I 100% agree with you about Greg. The Praetorian not only cuts. It pry's. It cut's. It keel's.lol. It also presents beautifully. When someone trying to rob you through intimidation comes face to face with the Praetorian??? Yeah. They will rethink there plight. So about that "annoying" noise? It is nothing more than micro debris entering those tight tolerances from uselessly cutting hundreds of peices of cardboard. . Easily fixed with lubrication. Any tool requires some degree of maintenance,....as Greg would quickly tell you. I disagree as well with your ergo argument. I think you should go with the Praetorian mini. I have large hands and the Praetorian feels great in my hand in all conditions. Knives and all the gripes that go along with them are completely subjective. I saved a dog left in a hot car on a 110 degree day by prying the top corner of the door frame almost 4 inches with mine, as I knew it would cost owner more money to fix. It performed beautifully. The Praetorian also works great in the war theater. You can actually use it for many effective things. It's the warhorse of custom knives. I would never pay $2000 for a knife as my wife would divorce me because of sheer stupidity. Now,....I paid $500 for my Praetorian Genisis Ti in used condition from PKP Vegas. It's been all over the world,.....and I am extremely pleased with it. As I said,.....maybe the mini is a better choice. Have a nice day.
