I was listening to this in the office in the City of London but I just had to shut the computer down and walk in the small church yard outside with its trees. Except the yard seemed to go on a lot further than I thought, and at the end were some thatched cottages and peasants herding pigs and goats. They marvelled at my strange black attire but i dare no0t tell them of the glowing box the size of a goose with all worldly wisdom inscribed inside, and also my smaller glowing box, the size of a gooses egg, upon which once by eldrich magick could you hear even acorss fo Frae Francia and beyond, was now more silent than the wild remote crossroads stake where they customarily bury witzards who talk of syche strange things.

Through the prism of time, one gets a better appreciation of the heart and soul or sensibility of a people by their music than by their history of war and conflict. Terrible historical events were "recorded" as they are today, but for the average inhabitant of an age or epoch, day-to-day life, as it is today, is consumed by just surviving, and during a break, making and enjoying music, perhaps the freest form of free speech known to mankind. But for cave wall depictions, in conjunction with dance, it is our oldest known form of art. God forbid what our current contemporary music would tell listeners 1,200 years from now about us.

How is Baroque music different from medieval and Renaissance? Medieval music was mainly sung and controlled by Monks. They were more of a gloomy, monotonousness sound that centered and pretty much all of it was about religion. Renaissance music was lighter, more cheerful and had much more tones to it. Baroque music was grand and ordinate like the art and architecture!

Plus, do we know and practice the social customs and courtesies of those days? Nope, we're accustomed to a far more egalitarian society. In those days, violating certain social norms could be very bad news. All our knowledge could be for nought because applying that knowledge could be unwise. Cantigas de Santa Maria no. 245 - Alfonso XI El Sabio (Spain, 13th Century) (41:20) - In this piece you can hear the Berber Muslim & Sephardic Jewish musical influence who were still occupying much of Spain in the 1200s . At the very beginning the lute like instrument sounds more like the Oud the Berbers brought to Spain which was called Al Andalusia under Berber Muslim and Sephardic Jew control . The Oud is a fretless lute instrument and goes back to Pharaonic Egypt . It is the mother of the lute and guitar . There were no such lute or guitar like instruments in Europe until the Oud was brought to Spain by the Berbers and evolved into the European Lute and later the acoustic guitar . The music, vocal modulations, the Morrocan front to back flute playing, drumming, instrumentation in general in this piece are very Arabic and North African
