This video is something a little different. I am exploring one of my favourite local spots - an extensive reserve of lowland heath, littered with mounds burial mounds on the periphery of a later medieval village. This is one of most interesting ritual landscapes in the Vale of York. I wrote about it for an article in one of my self-published, church crawling zines, called Under Steeple and Tower (only digital copies now available - link below) and thought I would take the time to read that to you in the second half of this video. Though the reading has had big chunks taken out and some rambling sections cut down so it works better in video format.
Keep in mind that all of this footage was shot in March 2024, but that the reading is from my original article based on a walk I did in December 2022.
