Orpheus had the pleasure of presenting a suite of Greek dances and songs during an interactive session called "Mediterranean Delights! Songs and Dances of Greece and its Neighbors" organized by Erasmia Voukelatos, a pianist and music teacher. A few of Mrs. Voukelatos young choral students presented Greek children's songs during the presentation.
The presentation was one of many during the national conference organized by OAKE (the Organization of American Kodaly Educators), a professional pedagogy association for music teachers from around the country at the Palmer Hotel in downtown Chicago.
Mrs. Erasmia Voukelatos is a music teacher at 2 Greek schools (Ascension, Fairview and Church of Our Saviour, Rye, New York) - and also the Director of Choral Music at Far Brook School, an independent school in Short Hills, New Jersey.
The presentations were accompanied by live music by Izaki Metropoulos (violin) and Sophia Metropoulos (laouto).
