Angela Roberts I said MOST of the time, not ALL the time. I’m an addict in recovery, have been through countless hours of therapy both individual and group, as well as AA. Childhood trauma accounts for approximately 80% of addiction issues. Of course there are those who don’t fall into this category but it’s not the norm.

I love how honest this lady is...when u asked what she needed...she could have said...money...shoes... anything...instead she was honest and said that she gets assistance with a lot of programs and all she really needs is safe housing so that says a lot about a person because a lot of people I'm sure try to take advantage...and of course i know there are also a lot of great people who don't take advantage but I'm just saying that's really amazing that this woman was honest and basically said nothing I just want safe housing that's amazing. my thoughts and prayers are with all of these women. I was addicted to heroin for a few years about 3 years and I celebrated 4 years sober this year January 12th. I know it's hard and everyday is a struggle but if you want it bad enough it can be done I still attend treatment regularly because I know I have to have it I need it in order to stay sober and it's important so like I said I know that road I've walked in those shoes and I know it's not fun and I know all about the sickness and the life and seriously my thoughts and prayers just go out to all of these people and if there's anything I can do to help please let me know

I begged his Dad just to give him an ultimatum of not having a house or job ( he gave him that, too) or a really nice rehab which he could've paid for...he never would, it's hard to convince a 27 year old man to go to rehab but I know it might have worked because he wouldn't have lasted but a couple days on the street, he liked shelter but oh well I'm rambling ❤

Life is freaking DIFFICULT. It is hard NOT to enjoy or even abuse SOMETHING...legal or not because this society takes as much enjoyment out of living as possible. Even the elite (rich) have tons of issues. Being sober is a bummer. Those who can enjoy sobriety are very lucky. I'm not an addict, but I struggle with hating being sober. I drink some, but had to stop smoking mj (my choice for relaxation and it was legal in the state I did live in) and spend most of my time wishing I could smoke a joint these days. Real life SHOULDN'T be so difficult, dull, and judged but...society sucks and is sucking harder each day. The legal system is a joke....societal beliefs and standards...and stigma towards alot of things that really aren't a problem make it almost intolerable. We should be free and happy rather than so many being pushed into wanting to just check out or seek substances to FEEL better...most people just want to stop hurting I think. Life should be better than this.....society should be better....if people enjoyed life more, they'd be less-likely to develop addictions imo. Recreational, "for fun" drug use would be a different story, because it's not all bad, but addiction could be helped imo.

We may have the freedom to picture out what our future would be like with how we want it to be, but we on the wheel, driving our life will decide which way it's heading to, we may have the dream to have a better life but we also have our weakness and sometimes or more, we can't fight against it, we just allowed ourselves to get drowned with the confidence that we can get out of the darkness, some have succeeded and some failed... Life is easy to judge but truly difficult to understand...

You are right, life shouldn't be this damn hard and it's damn hard to live sober when everything pretty much sucks. Hi, It's so sad, It just goes to show the mother & daughter bond can be disasterous in these circumstances. Both on hard drugs. I hope they both together can sort it out. They unconditionally love & care about each other, & neither of them want to leave the other on their own. The addiction is not healthy, when they are both using they are then relying on each other to fund habit or share drugs. So yet again it is not healthy. When one is using & the other is clean & spending time together it can be difficult because their is then the danger of relapse looms. I really feel for these two people. I really hope that somehow they both manage to sort it out.It would be nice to see them both in a rehabilitation centre. Supporting each other in a more positive way. All the time living how they are at the moment & that unconditional love they have for each other, as well as working on one self there is that beautiful mother & daughter bond. Working with them & seeing them both come out of rehab together clean with the tools & outside support would be a real good thing. Lisa

There is. You have to want to be clean, even with a clinic. I’ve been on and off methadone clinics since 2012, and I currently am on 100mg that I go and get every morning. I get a ride from a friend but If you don’t have rides, your state insurance or regular insurance PAYS for someone to pick you up EVERY morning. There really is no excuse. And if you miss a few days in a row, they cut your dose in half to cover their ass in case someone overdosed on the methadone. It’s all about your mindset. If you truly want to get clean, you will and be so glad to do it!

Wow, what a sad situation. Amber has a strong personality. It sounds like she needs to switch places and be the leader over her Mom. Yes, the ideal situation is they both get clean at the same time. The trick is they BOTH have to be ready at the same time. Life is so short. Two beautiful women that need so much help. So sorry this is happening to them both.

Amber(Ginger) is doomed. You can’t stay sober living in one room with 2 active addicts. So sad. I give it a month. She needs to leave her Mom and Man. They can all qualify for Medicaid which pays for rehab (30 days)

Medicaid covers rehab?? Since when?? I've been three times and never has my Medicaid covered it. BTW: once I wanted to really get clean for ME and not for anyone else, is when rehab actually helped and stuck with me. I've been clean a tad over 6 years now. Thank God.

With her being a natural redhead she needs to be watching the sun. She is very susceptible to skin cancer. Redheads usually don't tan they burn more and sunspots are very rampant with them. It can turn to skin cancer. She looks to be heavily into the sun and it's showing on her skin badly. Worrying about her drug addiction she needs to worry about that as well. This lady doesn't look very good . It's sad the daughter will live her lifestyle since that's the life she was raised in. People don't realize how you are raised really affects your future especially when your poor, the entire family is poor, and being addicts with children is not a good combo. The kids are usually abused physically as well as sexually. Mothers are strung out worrying about getting their fix while their boyfriends beat or touch their kids. usually happens until the state takes them away . Foster homes aren't much better a lot of abuse happens there as well. People think it's better they are out of their situations but they go to worse a lot of the time. It's tragic these ladies lives they can do better . To me, it's when you just give up when you allow this lifestyle to take over.

I think if they all start at a methadone program it would be helpful because trying to jump off all at once is a lot for three people trying to stick together. At least until they get on their feet into a place hey, if they are all going to the program it will give them clear head and it direct along with resources in

It's because she's at the point in her life where the drugs don't get her high just normal. I've been there! It's hard especially living on the street homeless addicted to drugs. But it can be done!! I'm living proof 6 years and 4 1/2 months clean no slips or weekend dips! You just really have to want it!

It's a life you wouldn't understand unless you've lived it... I was fortunate enough to always have a roof over my head, food on the table, clothes on my back... Beautiful holidays.. but my mom was an alcoholic... Functional but it would show when she drank too much. I could tell the second I looked at her, my friends would think I was picking on her, I wasn't I just knew her like a book.... I never knew the childhood she endured until a week before she got help.. she sat at the kitchen table, drunk.. crying and just letting it all out... Was only then I understood she was self medicating... Doing the only thing she knew in order to stop her shaking hands, anxiety.. etc.. we never came close to this, thank God... But I understand it

I sure hope the government officials watch these,so they realize that Americans hear suffering and hungry also, and can't get help. I've had situations in my life that can some what relate to these people and I think it's very sad sometimes people just have to listen and care help without questions and judgments. I wish people would just care there humans like everyone else but get looked over dismissed not help but we send rescuers and aid to other countries but can truly help our own,due to negotiate. Very sad😔
