Her poor little toes. I see WAY too many blue tongues with missing or shortened toes because people don't keep them correctly :( Not sure if you read these comments Jessi, but my Northern bluey LOVES burrowing in towels and other small pieces of cloth. Might be worthwhile enrichment to give Blueberry an old towel or a pile of fabric since it could simulate being snug in her burrow but still be soft on her delicate feet. Obviously porous stuff like towels would get dirty too fast to be in the enclosure all the time, but I just have a designated "skink towel" that I let my blue tongue burrow in every so often and then toss it in the wash so it doesn't get a build up of bacteria.

My 13-month-old kitten (sure, his body is done growing, but his head isn't, so he's still a kitten in my brain) loved watching Blueberry. This is super interesting to me because he has only shown interest in watching elephants and whales before (on TVs and monitors, the window and going on walks-with a leash-is another story). Our 11-year-old female cat (who thinks she's his mother) has always loved watching elephants and whales, and he will go sit right next to her and watch them. I had tried showing him other animals, but he's never been interested before now. Maybe the animal sounds in the background caught his attention. I'll have to test this. Great video, as always!

+Tim Vang Best thing to say. I really hate it when people go in a pet shop, and fall for an animal, just to take it with them the same day. Even if it is a hamster. Animals have specific needs to have a healthy life, and new owners need to know about them.

Agreed! Even with an animal as seemingly easy to care for as a bunny. I've spent my whole life terrified of bunnies/rabbits and only understood why they were so vicious toward me when I was a kid after watching videos such as this: I held them incorrectly and was likely causing pain. Ugh, unnecessary guilt and years of fear all bc of my family's tendency to own pets without doing our research first.

What we can learn from this story is if in the future we owe am amusual animal we have to have someone teaching what the aimal needs.

+Nasir Banks if you want a social bird, cockatiels and budgies are good to start with. Canaries, finches, and other songbirds don't really interact with you too much, but have fairly simple care. Of course, once you do plenty of research, the perfect bird for you should become obvious.

We had a female one living under our garden shed. We lived in the house 10 years & every spring we'd find her trundling around the backyard as we gardened. Her hissing & flashing her tongue terrified our dog who kept a wide berth from her, but she never seemed to mind sharing her yard with us humans. Every few years we'd see a bunch of her babies in the back yard & have to keep the dog in until they "left home".

She's gorgeous! Great job with her rehabilitation. While she certainly seems content with her hide, have you tried her on any loose substrates for burrowing? I was thinking that soft soil or moss could be good to try, as it wouldn't be abrasive on the toes and as they hold moisture well it could help with shedding? Of course I'm sure you know what is best for her :) also, how often do you get faecal samples tested for parasites, for all of your reptile species? I'm doing a research project into bearded dragon parasites for my dissertation, so the topic is really interesting to me!
