I have the previous grand stage. It has great weighted keys and a few nice features. Great electric pianos and synthesis too. I personally didn't want a big flashy screen, as I wanted something more focused on the playing vs sounds design. Things that I don't like? It had memory to load banks but no banks were released, no aftertouch, no midi out for many of the controls -making it very limited with other devices, and the stand is solid but looks very odd. No loopback audio or USB midi either... I hope that they fixed some of this on this one!

show me the action with FAST repetition on single notes. That's what will get my next $$$ for a stage/workstation piano. I need LITERALLY the action of a grand piano on stage...without the weight of course!

@davidseymour6246

@@thegood9 The funny thing is...in my opinion what we need is the action of an upright piano rather than trying to copy a grand (something like a Yamaha U1 would be perfect I'd say). The grand action has advantages when you are actually dealing with hammers hitting strings, but if you just want a controller for electronic use you want a nice agile and light action that still has the feel and subtlety of an acoustic piano. I am lucky enough to teach every day on a modern Steinway Model B grand, but for writing and improvising I almost prefer the feel of a good Yamaha upright. Maybe it's just me but there is something almost more inspiring in playing a 'more straightforward' action. The grand action has to deal with lifting the hammers up against gravity (unlike the upright of course), but there's no reason to build that disadvantage into a keyboard that doesn't even need hammers.
@thegood9
8 ай бұрын
@@davidseymour6246 you may be onto something there---but, I've NEVER found an upright that could do repetition to match a grand, sad to say. I think they just don't have the mechanism for it. That's not to say that a really well built "hybrid" controller couldn't be manufactured to do it, however.

Surprisingly affordable. And gorgeous design. If there is one complaint I have, I seriously hope you did not go with the 12$ oled monochrome display you use in all your Modwave/wavestate series, because those are prone to bugging out after a year or so of constant use, they're flawed. So this is the Grandstage SV2, then. Looks gorgeous, but my worry is it's another preset machine, like the Grandstage, which had almost no sound design capability, just a lot of (very nice-sounding) presets. The effects here seem taken from the SV2 but there doesn't seem to be master effects like flangers, distortion etc., just reverbs and delays (can you at least use BOTH reverb and delay, unlike on the SV2 and Grandstage?) Think I'll be sticking with my lovely YC-88.

Looks gorgeous and sounds great. Some weird hardware choices though. No USB C and DIN style MIDI ports make this something circa 2005. Also, why such a small screen. Screens are dirt cheap and I’m sure this is a premium priced product. On the more positive side, I think the inclusion of the nu-tube could be a game changer for vintage sounds and the optional legs look perfect. I can see this replacing the venerable Nord as the stage piano of choice.

@o-k9267

Yes, RH3 is triple sensor. The weight is slightly on the heavier side, if you compare to Kawai for example, but the RH3 keyboard has a good stiff quality and fast spring back, so note repetitions are a treat compared to my sluggish Roland's PHA-4 I have at home (which I still like more in terms of dynamics). But I'd recommend this keyboard, considering you can get it in digital pianos under 1000 dollars.
