Definitely worth doing. An organized shop is an efficient shop. French cleats help with organization quite a bit.

I have a drawer full of little tools. A wall mounted case might be a better idea.
@WoodcraftBySuman

I initially bought the foam for drawers. I think a combination of both is probably best. Some tools are just better to be in plain sight. The lesser used ones can stay hidden.

Swear to god you read my mind with this video. I was just shopping for slatwalls but kept thinking to myself "just build a french cleat wall you know you want to!" Great video though man!
@WoodcraftBySuman

Haha. I honestly explored all of the possible options without regard for time, logistics, etc. I went with simple french cleat wall because it is infinitely modifiable/shapable to fit any space you need. Wall Control or other systems do not provide quite as much versatility. And...pretty sure it is the cheapest option. Highly recommend :)

@@WoodcraftBySuman exactly. You convinced me dude. Especially now that plywood is kinda back to reasonable prices, it just makes more sense for the ultimate flexibility and customization factor. Plus all the hooks and hangers and such for the product systems cost an insane amount!
@WoodcraftBySuman

@@AJBuiltThis agreed. And if you do need some quick and dirty hooks or whatever, you can screw them down to the French cleat wall as well. I use a couple of wire hook things to hold my earmuffs and respirator.

Great video, even the video/editing was really well done 👍🏻. What camera do you use?
@WoodcraftBySuman
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe. Thank you for the complement and watching. I'm using a EOS R6 with 24-105mm f4 lens. That type of a setup is an overkill for most video projects. Instead, I recommend a camera like the Canon M50 II and spend the extra money on video lighting. Lights will make a bigger difference than a camera.

@WoodcraftBySuman

Unfortunately they're chinese made generic brands that seem to change often on amazon. If you message me from my "about" page in YT or PM me on instagram, I can provide you direct links. I don't believe I'm allowed to post link here. The larger red triangle with 3 holes is a 5.5" rule square, the other two smaller red items are radious corner templates. All of these are very ubiquitous on amazon.

Great project! I have been toying around with wall organization in my shop lately. My method has also been to nail stuff to the wall and then slowly fill in corners until it looks really messy and then start over. A french cleat system might be a better idea.
