"Yeah... just paint" yeah.. about 2 mil in repairs.

1:14 Yea.. Just paint. This yacht is italian built, 72 meters, and $83 million dollars. The aztecs can hold 66,043 gallons of diesel fuel. That would cost about $198,000 to fill, assuming a $3 average cost of diesel fuel. No, it is not just paint, but the cost to repair the damage would be trivial compared to the cost of this yacht. Some how, I think he can afford it.

It sure was a tight squeeze, and from the wind noise in the audio...quite breezy! But once the Captain made the decision to proceed, he was committed with no option of turning back. Damage to her appeared minor.

I went through that same gap in a Kayak back in December and it is a pretty narrow gap for some of those big boats, It was pretty cool rowing around the lagoon looking at all the fab yachts though.

I have sailed large vessels as well and have always used wind and current to my advantage by preparing in advance with correct approach and equipment,,and I never let momentum make my decisions for me... That being said, if this yacht did NOT have a bow thruster I would 100% agree with you, at that point you have no choice but to carry some speed to manuever...

I see your point, but they had more room on the other side...In this case and time momentum on ship that size can be your enemy... The crew was running around like crazy. They have a bow thruster, they could have safely crawled through and secured more fenders as needed...in my opinion.

I wondered why the yacht had an Isle of Man flag... Found this: Benefits of registering a vessel on the Isle of Man include: * A zero rate of tax * No annual tonnage dues * A low registration fee * Attractive VAT arrangements * Security of mortgages registered on the Island * A Demise Charter Register, both in and out * British Flag and support of British Consular services * Flexibility in the requirements for registered owners including limited partnerships
