Thanks for the vid! Started fishing Dark Sleepers a few months back and it's a ton of fun to throw. I use a 7'3 MH fast action rod and either 6.8:1 or 7.5:1 bait caster. Lure flies a mile with ease and comes thru just about any cover with ease, it's a must have anytime I'm out on the water.

My Favorite bait to throw. As a bank guy the spinning set up makes them fun. The wakasagi and haze colors are like candy for fish around here. I throw the 2.4 inch too crappie, larges, and blue gill will go after that size.

I brush on a little mend-it over the outer edge of the eyes and they stay on just fine. It's a little easier than ripping them off and gluing them back on. It works well with Magdrafts and spark shads too.

Love the dark sleepers. A very underrated way to fish it is to flip it. Love fishing docks with it. Use it like I’d use a flipping jig

Interestingly enough I have actively avoided purchasing and using this bait. Or however you have convinced me that I should at least buy a couple of them and try them. I’ve been so successful with storm lures that I really haven’t given other weighted soft plastic swim baits a chance. So congratulations to this persuasive video.😎👍🏿✌🏿

That is my favorite also. The 1/2 once 3 inch Donko. I fish the rive with them a lot they get get hung up on wood quite a bit but the hook will bend out and you can just straighten it back. I also fish it on a medium heavy spinning combo I can get a lot of distance out of it

Do you think an orochi shakey head would work well with throwing the 1/4oz 2inch or the 3/8oz 3inch DS? It's lure rating is up to 1/2oz? Thanks man, awesome vid, keep them coming.

As much as I love using dark sleepers the top fin tends to rip easily! Also they do snag underwater trees & woodpile. I usually just slowly drag them on bottom. I don't swim it due to high amount of Northern Pike.

Just placed an order at Omnia and used your code. Thanks! Regarding the Dark Sleeper, I also love it but find that it gets snagged on wood very easily.

Man that is my go-to bait funny story so I was fishing my 2inch one and I was reeling so slow it hurts I got a bite and the largemouth started running straight at me I could not reel fast enough on a spinning reel to catch up by the time I did and was able to get to set the hook a little bit I felt the weight he shuck his head and spit the bait it all happens so fast it was crazy

Small tip. Buy yourself some Sally Hanson's hard as nails and give the eyes a quick pass with it. I buy knockoff dark sleepers from AliExpress and was having the same issues with the eyes falling off. I use Hard as Nails on the thread after I hand-tie my own jigs. It works as a lacquer and sealer. I've seen people use it to seal a custom painted crankbait as well.

Good Stuff on the DS Brian! 👍🏻.....Just curious have you fished or do you own the Re-designed 2020/21 Levante (Enforcer) by any chance? as if so, how would you say it compares with Sensitivity, Crispness, Tip wise, Etc to the 2018 Orochi XX or Destroyer Brigand? since both of those other 2 Rods are basically the same Length, Power/Specs too.....Anybody that can answer this with their own personal experience between those 3 Rods would be appreciated
@PunchFishing

I've handled the new Enforcer in a local store and it's VERY nice. It's a perfect rod for tossing dark sleepers, finesse jigs, tubes.. anything heavier on the bottom that you need to set the hook hard on. Could be great for paddle tail swimbaits in deep water as well. Big boy spinning rod.

Dark sleepers are great baits but I wouldn't say it killed the tube. Tubes are one of the most versatile baits. You can crawl it, hop it, flip it, drop shot it, even twitch it like a fluke. Depending how you rig the tube you can even have it dart or spiral on the fall. I use both and love both but they each have their own use to me.
@PunchFishing

all fair points! Tube has a lot more rigging options.
