Megadeth! Great reaction. This song showcases some of Dave's trademark lyricism. He likes to take phrases and twists them around creating new interesting meanings. He does that with both political and religious text. This song has several religious innuendos. You should have noticed by now Dave also like his change ups. One last point to make about 'Ashes in Your Mouth', it is the last song on the Countdown to Extinction album. Nick's drum solo at the end ends the album. This song often does not get the respect that it should, being overshadowed by other more popular songs off this album. Other Megadeth songs which are also often overlooked but are great are 'Looking Down the Cross' off the first Megadeth album and 'Liar' off their third album.

First off, Megadeth's lineup for this song: Dave Mustaine - guitar, vocals Marty Friedman - guitar David Ellefson - bass guitar, backing vocals Nick Menza - drums This song is about the negative aftereffects of war, and it references the book of Joel from The Bible, specifically Joel 3:10, with Dave's "Melting down all metals, turning plowshares into swords" line. Dave and David are both devout Christians, though it doesn't usually affect their music very much. The term "ashes in your mouth" comes up in The Bible a lot, and it means to do something with absolutely no satisfaction to be gained. All sorts of fruits are eaten in The Bible and have absolutely no flavor to the consumer. Dead Sea apples had turned to ash whenever anyone had picked them. Incidentally, in a ritual of every show, Dave had eaten his own sort of ash fruit, something called an Umeboshi Plum, which is incredibly salty and known to help a person with retaining the grit of their voice, much like with any salty food. When he hadn't been able to buy them, he'd simply eaten potato chips. Neither of them are generally recommended for vocalists to eat regularly, because these foods are oily as well and can be problematic to digest, but they'd worked for him, ultimately. This track had been released on Megadeth's 1992 fifth studio album, Countdown to Extinction, which is their best-selling album overall, and it's the album's closing track. I don't generally listen to it much, because it's such a difficult track to follow along with, but the technicality of it is definitely impressive. It's a great track to end a record and bring it back to the beginning with Skin o' My Teeth, for certain.

Megadeth-Megadeth-Megadeth. Guitar Supremacy. Dave is is a damn great guitarist but he always has an awesome guitarist in every lineup. Good Mourning Black Friday next.

Great reaction. So many surprises in the song made it a bit hard to follow. But that's what kept me transfixed to the last note. To look back just a few weeks, I wanted nothing to do with this band. Yet now I see the word Megadeth, and I know there's a treat in store. Throwing a curved ball. I've just come from planet Sabaton, and their latest release of Christmas truce. This time animated, and has narration telling the full story, with interesting facts that aren't in the lyrics. Well worth a look. Keep a tissue handy! Catch you later. TTFN.

One other thing. The reason the guitar work is so good is that, despite being one of the best guitarists in the world, Dave Mustaine is not afraid to hire other guitarists into the band who are as good as he is. He is legitimately a top ten guitarist, but he will switch off solos with his fellow guitarist and is not too big to play rhthym as well. This makes the guitar work of Megadeth better than, maybe anyone’s.

You know I've been watching your videos for a while and your reactions are really great. Which is hard to come by nowadays. Your avenged sevenfold reactions are my favorite and it's clear that if you weren't a metal head already your one now. If I could recommend a band disturbed is my second favorite band and I think you might enjoy. The choice is yours though. Again great reactions keep it up. 🤘

Great Megadeth reaction! Always loved this song. The Megadeth song FFF on the Cryptic Writings album is definitely worth a listen, The song lyrics say Fight For Freedom which is where I always thought the title came from. I don’t believe I ever watched a reaction from this Megadeth song. Thank You for the Megadeth reactions!🤘👍

As a recommendation, I would offer other Megadeth songs to your list, such as, Tornado of Souls, In My Darkest Hour, Peace Sells and Trust. You might also like A Tout Le Monde, but listen to the 2007 version with Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil sharing vocals. I will add more songs later.

I finally got in on the ground floor with someone on these reaction videos. I see this was just released today. I ‘m glad you like Dave’s vocals, because he is different and unique. He may not sound technically brilliant, but Megadeth has always been about music over vocals. That is not to say that their lyrics aren’t incredible, just that they don’t have a classic sounding vocalist. That is probably the only reason they aren’t my favorite band. I listen to all kinds of metal , but really love Prog Metal because of the operatic vocals. Speaking of which, since you like the technical excellence of this song, Prog Metal is something else you might check out. Most of those bands, thrive on that. That genre includes bands such as Savatage (My favorite), Queensryche, Fates Warning and Dream Theater.
