It was a singular experience, I’ll say that. For better or for worse.

I saw Megalopolis last night, and while I was amazed at how bad it is, I also find it oddly memorable-which, in some ways, makes it worth watching. That said, one thing that really bothers me is in the first few seconds of your video, where you show Adam Driver’s character in the back seat of a car, waving his hand and saying “Go.” After watching the movie, I vividly recall that the voiceover of him saying “Go” and the scene where he waves his hand are from two entirely different moments. Splicing them together like that feels deceptive. It makes me lose respect for Coppola as a director because it feels like he’s misleading the audience just to get them into the theater. This leads me to a deeper concern. I can’t shake the feeling that the chaotic and disjointed nature of the movie reflects the attitude behind its production. It’s almost as if Coppola, like an old and senile emperor, is surrounded by people who don’t fully grasp his vision, giving him the bare minimum while taking advantage of his legacy. I suspect that his original message may have been lost or diluted in the process. Megalopolis could very well go down in history as the last great indulgent Hollywood film, and for that reason, despite its flaws, it should be admired and cherished.

I also refer everyone to the great "Johnny Canal" skit from SNL (John Malkovich).

Laurence Fishburn's(?) voiceover in the trailer instantly turned me off from this film. Pretentious, much? Francis Ford Coppola doesn't need to tout his bona fides. We know it. Just make an entertaining movie FFS.

Guys, you're Underselling Just How bad This Thing Really Was. You have to really realise, and fully form within your mind, just how bad this thing is. Megalopolis is one of the worst films ever made Listen to when Esposito says to Driver at the Very End, "Promise Me, you'll build Nobly" 😬🤦. Tripe, just absolute Tripe. Also, Didn't Esposito want to Build a Casino after that huge chunk of land went down in the demolition? So what Noble Examples & Standards is he setting? This is Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon level of buffoonery. Megalopolis at times, felt like it was written by a 4 Year Old. I don't know if Coppola has lost his Faculties or what, but it was a shell shocking watch. The USSR Satellite that was set up as this major world ending timed event, was perfunctory as hell in it's execution Shia lebouf, what was he doing again? Dustin Hoffman gives possibly his Worst performance of his career in this film Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuels Chemistry is too low to have any implications that he got the time stopping superpower back whilst with her And what was that time stopping superpower all about? it was completely pointless The Aubrey Plaza getting in with the Bank CEO to swipe his riches and get back with driver, executed lacklustre as hell and honestly awful, just an awful execution I liked a few of the ideas and world building functions 1. For example, The Vesta Virginity Bidding Auction to help support and keep Vesta a Virgin, and set an example for the Young Women of New Rome to keep chastity, and keep Hypersexuality(which was rampant amongst all of the party women in New Rome)at bay. Excellent theme within the world of New Rome, that isn't used effectively, if at all(also, I'm talking about as a fantasy within this film, there's no real world application of this theme) 2. Another example is the Megalon Material, Great idea.......that's used to build New York City? 🌆That's it? The Art Direction needed to craft something out of this world🌌, not a vivid version of New York city 3. Also, at times, I actually liked the visual style here, it had a dream like quality to it, that I thought worked really well. But overall, This film is an absolute Embarrassment & actually an Absolute Squander, there's possibly an Excellent film in there somewhere with all of these Grand Ideas. And i think Devindra Nailed it, it is fascinating and this is Probably Coppolas last Film, his last send off to cinema, I hope that in 10 to 15 years from now, a fresh minded director or a seasoned, excellent in thought director takes these ideas and executes and makes a "Remake/Way Better Version" of Megalopolis 2024

@fireinthesky2333 It should of been Coppolas Magnum Opus and it could be because of age that this thing is almost completely incoherent, George Miller on the other hand went the complete opposite way, George miller in his advanced age reached his Pinnacle(not in box office) and crafted & honed & sheared & thought brilliantly to produce imo, an Actual Masterpiece in the stunning work that is Furiosa. Again, hopefully down the line, a director makes a far better version of Megalopolis 2024 There's a bunch of talent out there, i would love to see a JT Mollner undertake a project like this. He Crafted imo one of the Greatest Films Ever made in Strange Darling(that Sensory Shock near the Very end was mind blowing, just brilliant and intricate Filmaking)
