What's with the background music on repeat? Distracting comes to mind.

Wow, now I am looking forward to The Brutalist. I also saw Megalopolis and I agree, it's a wasted potential. It's really baffling, although I think I liked it slightly more than you. (Still not a good movie, I would put it as one very mediocre one). But it's so out there with bizarre choices every single minute. The "throw the hat on the floor" bit is one out of many. There are many passion projects that take a long time before they get to screen, and still manage to be grandiose. "The Irishman" was one of them and became a huge awards player. It's a shame that Coppola spent so much time and money and delivered us this.

Here's an example of an artsy-fartsy movie that takes its own incoherent premise way, way too seriously

Wild that he sat on this film for so long and this was what he came up with.

Coppola is truly just a ghost of a former great filmmaker. I can admire this movie for the ambition, but it is quite a misfire in every way.
