it puts me in mind of Coppola's own. "Apocalypse Now." When I first saw AN, I thought it was a mess, but a fascinating and compelling mess, worth ten times any of the well-made, conventional films coming out at that time. Looking at it again, years later, I loved it even more. When he swings big, Coppola - a true FILMmaker - is definitely worth the time. And the presence of Giancarlo Esposito may make up for that of Shia LaBoeuf.

They're either based critics who rewatched The Irishman hoping Coppola can outdo or even give something on the same lvl or they're small-minded for putting Frnacis Ford Coppola in just one category cos he's Italian. Coppola is so far beyond the fucking Godfather trilogy he never bothered to make a Vincent Corleone sequel cos people must have been bugging him about it for 30 goddamn years since GF3 came out. Coppola is one of the last of the OGs I'd bet even Spielberg and the rest of the 70s generation r licking their chops for this banger.
