Meiji student Corinne recently had an amazing trip to St. Lucia with Coach Abel, here's what she had to say:
"I recently had the privilege to visit the beautiful island of St. Lucia along with Coach Abel Martinez and some of our BJJ family. Travelling abroad for training has been discussed for years and fate finally made it happen. Our main reason for this trip was to surprise Coach Mervin Steele who we had the honour of first meeting a few years back. We decided to surprise him on his birthday shortly after we landed, and the shocked look on his face was priceless. Little did he know that he would also be awarded his well deserved black belt during our stay.
Training under 35 degrees wasn’t an easy task especially with the humidity but undoubtedly worth it and I can now tick training 5 days in a row off my bucket list. The St. Lucian hospitality was warmer than the sun, our extended BJJ family looked after us daily making sure that we also experienced the best the country had to offer. Between lazing on beaches, horse riding, relaxing in natural mud baths, tasting local delicacies and dancing at street parties, no two days were the same.
I can’t wait to go back as it was a holiday like no other!"
