Do you have experience using Meike lenses or this one in particular? What do you think about the brand? This was the first Meike lens I have used.

I have the 85mm f/1.8 AF and it’s good. Not super sharp wide open but also not too bad.

Depends on what you're shooting. If you're doing a lot of low light stuff w slower shutter speeds IBIS is going to help for sure. But on a nice day with fast shutter speeds you don't need it for a short focal length like this.

great review , I shoot with my R3 using Sigma art with rf adapters . I use the art 35mm 105 art and the 135 art. All very sharp. the 105 is from another world. Mr. Coco can you do a video on the proper way to use flash outdoors? I have a new grandson and Im shooting him on the swings and running around and experiance alot of ghosting. Im using a Godox ad200 pro . hope you had a great fathers day. Mac

Sounds like you are using second curtain flash, and maybe your shutter speed is too slow as well, which allows movement. Outdoors, you probably also want to use high speed sync with the AD200 Pro, unless you can keep your shutter speed at or under the camera's native maximum sync speed.

Sure, I can do an outdoor flash video. Ghosting can be due to a slow shutter speed as Miles mentioned. Happy Father's Day!

Wow a 0.95mm for that price and size, sweet. If I didn’t already own a Fujinon 35mm 1.4, I would have really considered this lens. Pick me Pete📸

I've done some portraits with my Lomography Petzval lenses (both the original f2.2 and newer f1.9) wide open in a studio setting and know how hard it is to nail focus on inexperienced subjects even at those apertures, let alone f0.95. I really appreciate your succinct overview of this lens for Fujifilm, and especially enjoy your sample portraits against the seamless. I had tempting thoughts while watching, but then reminded myself that I could always adapt my Nikkor 55mm f1.2 lens or even use an AF lens wide open and it won't make much difference. I noticed that Viltrox also makes a 35/0.95 lens for Fujifilm X mount and wonder if there's much difference. The looks and build quality of the Meike really look outstanding, like a combination of a Voigtlander and Pentax Super Takumar.

Thank you! I didn't know about the Viltrox. But you are right I don't think there will be much difference from your Nikkor.

I was shooting SLR cameras (film) in '65 before autofocus came around. Cameras were easy to focus manually then. Fujifilm has great manual fucusing tools, but they really don't compare to what we had with a prisim on SLR. I hope Fujifilm improves manual focusing tools because you are right, these uber fast, cheap lenses have a lot to character. Loved your images BTW, Pete.

Thanks! Younger folks don't realize how easy manual focus was on a great camera/lens back then.

It's great to have manual focus lenses with the X mount so adapters aren't necessary. I actually was out today at Trexler Nature Preserve in the Lehigh Valley with a manual focus vintage lens on my X-T3. I love thinking about the distance scale on the lens. A few times I tried doing zone focus to see if I could catch something within that DOF I set. I also shot some wide open to see how things would look. The lens I used was a Pentax 50mm f1.7. So, not nearly as big an aperture, but still lots of fun. I shot some portraits of my daughter with it the other day and really liked the images. Thanks for the overview, have a great day Pete! Oh yeah,,,,, Pick Me Pete!!! LOL!

MF isn’t the reason why no EXIF data is transferred to the camera. There are MF lenses that are transferring these information.

Yes I know. I was referring to the camera being fully manual, ie, manual control and no electronic communication with the camera.
