“I want that feeling gone…”
...Wait for that mood shift though
Audio - Petals On The Moon | Wasia Project
The song is delicious, if a song can be described that way. I love the dichotomy of the song. It’s so upbeat and bouncy, yet the lyrics are so sad.
**There’s a book called ‘Petals Of The Moon’ (so perhaps not exactly the same thing) and it explores the emotions of darkness. Longing, anxiety, and escape…emotions which I think Marisa has experienced most of her life, and we get to see that extensively after 1x02 when Lyra runs away from her**
So I thought the song was perfect for a Marisa edit. I’ve slowed down and lowered the pitch of the song in the first part to emphasise that dichotomy and make the mood shift stronger. The final part I used is the original.
Marisa has been through so much it’s just heartbreaking. All she needs to be happy is Lyra. She is her lifeline. It’s like that hug she gave her in 1x01 woke her up. And she only ever really got to experience that pure happiness with her daughter for a few weeks. In this edit it’s like she just wants to go back to that time. But that’s all in the past, and she’ll never have that with her again for multiple reasons.
So is the ending of this edit really that happy, or have I just made it all the more depressing?
