Every guy wanted their curls and to dress in suits and hear all the girls scream.RFTW brought coolness and style and great music to the culture. 70s,80s and 90s were best years for black music.Period

Loved this band and album I played repeatedly over and over. The fact is Prince ruled the era! Purple Rain 1999 kept everyone loyal haha I do think he had more Prince influence than he admitted here and to speak of him could be bad for business with sensitive fans feelings on the subject of even speaking the legend Prince. I think Prince huge success kept RFTW fr being bigger than they were or could have ben. In those times age 14 I did wonder is he trying to be like Prince? Does Prince like this band? Do they like each other? Who could kick who's ass in a real fight? lol But I had posters on my wall of both artists had albums too, mostly Prince tho, and I'm a rock listener mostly. Sadly, this album was their best imo. 🥺 Love the killer cover of Christopher Cross hit: Sailing performed by Mr. Riley at 3:10 🌅⛵🥲🤧 Reminded me sorta of Prince playing intro to Purple Rain on his piano towards the end of the movie, then twisted and blew my mind how he covered CCs Sailing! 😲 Great interview and questions btw 👏👏👏👏🤝

As a kid I'd get Prince and Melvin mixed up at times for their soft voice. For the longest time I believed Tonight and Let me love you down was sang by Prince.

the bests of times The 80s we didn't even know how much it was gunna be and truly missed!! The only thing we lacked was the internet but maybe it would hv ruined our proud Title! We had unlimited music artist to listen to emotional songs or great songs now we're all old many artist have died are old and we're trying to be mask free pay fuel food bills inflation and many side hustles to survive. I'm emotionaly number to songs back then too somehow??? I hear them but dont feel them as much if that makes sense to some? But no generation has given us what the 1980s did in music artists My boys U2 still together since 1978 but Bono has made bad songs albums past 20yrs but I'm still proud their around for hope of a good album since year 2001 The Red Hot Chili Peppers just release another album. Good to see Melvin still kicken it too and still has a great unique voice and talented musician that didn't get enough spotlight deserved, but it's better than none :) 14APR22🖖😷

This is a very good interview. Those who were born in the 70s know this man. I remember oh sheila......i feel he should have been bigger on the international stage. MJ and Prince took too big a slice of that cake back then. He was just as good as them. This interview proves this. Terrence Trent Darby next. The man I believe would have met MJ F2F. Imho. Kkkkk

Spent the entire 7-4-24 Holiday with my wife Listening to RFTW the entire catalog and yes I still have the actual cassettes from every album, and did have all the Vinyl albums as well , and let me say for me RFTW 1 was and still is the greatest debut album of all time, to this day. It still puts me in a place in time that was just wonderful in my life, My high school days revisited all over again and I introduced the music my wife and she was amazed at the lyrics of the songs which she says was way ahead of its time to simply put it Timeless masterpieces, that will stand the test of time great music and good times.
