In this final chapter of the Memorial Day Tour in 2022, I take a look at Tettingen and Butzdorf from the Lateswald to give an idea of the terrain that from the German perspective, as German troops counterattacked Butzdorf and Tettingen from the Lateswald. I then make a trip to the front-line sector designated to Company B, 376th Infantry during three miserable days and nights in the 'Monkey Wrench' woods, after the rest of 1st Battalion had been pulled out ot Butzdorf and Tettingen. I explore some platoon positions and visit what remains of a German concrete pillbox where men from Company B could go to warm themselves, or drink a cup of coffee. For all of you who want to know more about the history of the 376th Infantry's 1st Battalion, my book "Letters from Lauren" offers a detailed narrative. Based on the letters of Lauren B. Marks, it follows not only this particular Company B member, but extensively covers the history of 1st Battalion, 376th Infantry, zooming out to events within the 94th Infantry Division in the European Theater of Operations, following its history from the days of training until the men returned home, early 1946.
