Here's what i did to avoid overlaps: I changed one of my letters into two letters, a vowel and a consonant, ie. Ti. If that letter combination comes first then it's pronounced normally (ti) like the letter pairs: TN=Tin To=tio/tyo TP=tip And if it comes second it's pronounced backwards (it) like: PT=Pit OT=Oit/oyt NT=Nit And on the normal letter "T" I just avoid putting the consonant "i" in the middle to not get confused with "Ti"

Given the fact that you’re averaging around 8 seconds memo, and you can solve in another 10 seconds or so, memorizing the edges by audio it makes sense it’s super easy. Would you recommend that for someone like me who is still taking about 2 minutes to memorize, that holding it in working memory isn’t the best approach? If so, at what point does your speed need to be for tracing such that this is a good tactic? Do you get what I mean?
@JackCaiCubing
4 жыл бұрын
Hey Nelson, I would say it's worth looking into, perhaps there's some additional mental strain/adjustment using it at first but I think the 'easiness' of it makes it worthwhile + you'll likely be using it further down the line anyway.

Maybe it's a good advice for the beginners out there to memo the edges first with images/words and after that the corners with audio. Then you execute in reverse order. That way it may be easier to learn the concept of audio memo

Very helpful, I didn't know fast memo can also be done with full audio, that's what I used to do but it led me to blank out a lot on corners. Only 5-6 months ago I switched to words/images for corners and audio for edges which has significantly reduced the chance of blanking out corners (tho I still feel my corner memo is way too slow)
@stevenchau2645
4 жыл бұрын
My corner memo is slow too, but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm spending too much time thinking about images that go with the letter pairs. So, I created a list of words/images to help. It's tedious, but I hope it will be worth it in the end.

Good video. The grouping thing might help me. It's crappy when there's a string of letter pairs that just don't flow off the mental tongue in a memorable way e.g. something like AJ XaQ CaV DaF etc

It doesn’t seem that you use the same “spacing” vowels over and over. I do and I started doing so, so that my solves would be more consistent. If I get consonants in a row, I will for the first Quad use the “ee” vowel, for the next quad, I will use the “aw” vowel and for The third quad I will use the “æ” vowel. This doesn’t apply though if I memo a vowel as an actual target For example: [ ] = a quad [YiD Fið] [NåSH KåR] [GæS MæS ] Notes: ð is pronounced like the Th-sound like in “This” “That” “The” Å is pronounced like AW “Paw” And æ (wich English used to have) is pronounced like the “A” in “Cat”

I've seen people do this, I think it's better to keep visual till the end since it could potentially mess up your tracing earlier on - I think it's worth looking into your audio pairs and making sure they're all 1 syllable first
