I'm more impressed by the Mental aspect of things when it comes to this race by Ross than the physical. We all knew he wasn't as fresh as the competition coming into this and he knew that too, and instead of getting caught up midway through when he was being passed by everyone, he kept his composure, ran his own race, and now he's going to the Olympics. Very rarely do you see that sort of composure from such a young talent. Has all the makings of a future world champion

Ross's training, like all collegians, was geared to peak at the NCAA finals and not the Trials, so I'm not surprised at this result. His body is tired, so he needs to rest. Meanwhile, nobody, including Randy's coach/father, expected for him to run a 43.85, or the decision would've been made for him to redshirt the 2021 season and instead train for the Olympics. How much do you want to bet that Randy will now turn pro? There's no sense for him to waste any more time running collegiately. Stay safe.

What I don’t understand is why they make the 400 runners run on three consecutive days without a break. The 800 runners get a days rest between the semi and the final and it’s not nearly as taxing as the 400. In the Olympics the 400 runners get TWO days rest between the semi and final. That was horrendous scheduling. Randolph Ross is a monster for making it through two weeks of hell. Not to even mention that mile relay leg he dropped where he had to bring his squad back from 6th place.

In my estimation, they are ALL measures of greatness. There's always something special about these Afro_American athletes viz. They provide a contagious excitement that takes over the onlookers. Some, with a more streamlined body shape and weight are more easily alighted than others. Randolph ROSS is that exemplar. He seems to be pulled forward by an invisible force. Collectively , however, it's only a beautiful and exciting scence.

Badnarek ran 9.89 with a terribly reaction time of 0.307, that means he could have ran 9.74. Iam making Badnarek the favourite for the 200m

yes, Norman and Cherry are awesome but Ross moving from #6 to #3 in the last 50 yards is unbelievable. This 400M team is loaded. I'm predicting 1,2,3 finish in Tokyo unless that Grenadian Sensation comes out of retirement
when i was young 45 was the shit now 44 dam that is good.

How is the 4th runner of the 4x4 relay determined? Only the top 3 of this race made the Olympic team? Wouldn't the 4th runner be someone who didnt prove themselves over 400m at this trial? Is that fair?

Guy on Lane 5, he was on track for 3rd place, but his running form fell apart in last 100m. Not sure if it's just stamina or he just panicked and forgot about his running technique.

Ran out of gas. Happens to rugby players as well. That the reason front rows get replaced halfway through match.

The US usually takes 6 runners for the Mile relay so Trevor Stewart, of NCA&T, may be joining Randolph Ross after all.

This really is usually a lock for the USA at the Olympics. Not this year. 44.74 got 3rd? 11 Americans went that time or faster in 2019, and the top 4 Americans went an aggregate of 2.49 seconds faster than the top 4 here.
