as someone who has planned to attend a cc since they were a kid (like 6th grade), the stigma around it didn’t even really hit me until around 11th/12th grade when everyone else was talking about top schools and prestigious universities and the like. While I’d already mentally made my decision a long time ago, rewatching your video on it every time I felt ashamed or self conscious about it really helped reassure me and made me feel proud of my choice. I’ve taken a few community college classes throughout my hs career already, but I’m about to start my first real semester in a few weeks and I’m pretty excited :) so thank you for that. I think about community college students being the “people’s people” often lmao.

you are so brave and so right for this I watched commentary youtubers in highschool because I implicitly trusted their judgement on what was funny and what was embarassing. as soon as any of them covered a topic I actually knew about though the illusion was shattered like they Do Not know more than anyone about the subjects they talk about. which is fine! except sometimes they are mean for no reason :/ anyways most of the best ones have pivoted now anyways. I think the genre will slowly be bred out in favor of the superior video essays and nostalgia reviews. but i am glad the people that are having fun are having fun

Okay so in CC (tho not every one is identical, ofc) you’ll be waaay less broke, have less packed and/or pompous and overblown lecture classes as well as labs where you MAY actually have some time to get help and/or constructive feedback from the prof that’s actually helpful. It’s more mellow, no overbearing academic stuff or “school spirit” related stuff…but besides maybe a few people with your major you might share more than a single class with in one semester or more, you might not meet hardly anyone who you actually stay connected to post-semester or be making plans to go out and get drinks with most of your peers you’ll share your classes with (with the occasional exceptions). Shame-wise though…you still have a degree of equal inherent value at the end of the day and don’t have to endure trying to keep up with a full schedule and hw and maybe even still working part-time while also in a low budget Disneyland, basically…anyway, that was my entirely unsolicited advice! Hope it helps someone somehow. But if it not, so be it! Sayonara ✌🏻
