@adolforodolfo6929
2 жыл бұрын
@@davidtm98 It was a ridiculous claim really - nobody knew that the 'Kookaburra' song was copyright, the woman who wrote it was long dead and the case was brought 28 years after 'Down Under' was released. Basically some shit of a lawyer got in touch with the company who owned the publishing rights and suggested they sue because they (and him of course) might make a lot of money. They tried to get 60% of the royalties on the song, but were awrded only 5% by the court - but that was still a lot as the song sold millions. I don't think it's true that they are not allowed to play the flute riff live - can't find any mention of that anywhere; whether they do or not, I've no idea.
@waifah4394

@@davidtm98 The copy write holders of "Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree" who weren't even born when that song was written sued the band for theft of intellectual property. The bastards didn't even get the point of the song. Why didn't vegemite sue them as well? There is a whole bunch of Aussie iconic motifs in the song and that riff was one of them and I'LL NEVER FORGIVE the pricks that lead to Greg Ham's death.
