Nice series. I'm glad you revisited the suit. It's nice to see how it held up and it gives you a chance to give a real retrospective. I think you hit the nail on the head. MW is EVERYWHERE. Custom suiting is a must for the well dressed guy. Now that you told me MW lacks in the number of measurements, I would take the plunge online. You will have to measure yourself but you will probably come out with a better fitting suit. Fit is king....closely followed by fabric quality. I purchased off the rack from MW. I have a black, gray, and blue. They weren't Joseph Abboud. I got them under the 2/1 special and 50% off the blue. Joseph Abboud is a little nicer than the suits I purchased. The suits looked good on me but I think that's because I'm tallish, black, and I have a nice build. After watching utube videos, I never looked at those suits the same haha. The tailoring was off. The sleeves were too long, too boxy in the body, the pants needed to be slimmed, and they were too long. I recently purchased a custom suit from Daniel George. He's a custom suit designer in San Francisco (where I live) and Chicago. It cost an arm and a leg but I LOVE my new suit as does everyone that comes into contact with me haha. I'll probably wear the black MW suit to funerals or something that requires a black suit but I don't expect to ever wear the gray or blue suit anymore.

Amazing review bro! I just subscribed to your channel. As a former employee of Tailored Brands (Men’s Wearhouse), I have roughly 4 of their made to measure suits. As an aspiring suit and menswear connoisseur, it is not a true custom. I am glad that you pointed that out in your review. It’s almost as if you are buying separates and adding a few bells and whistles to the suit. I believe that Men’s Wearhouse has hit the nail on the head with bridging the gap between quality, price and customization of fit, but a true discerning gentleman such as you and me, are most likely looking for a brand that allows a bit more creative options for a suit. The guy that’s a hard fit or has already purchased all the other blue suits off the rack, this is the perfect made to measure program for him. I’ve had the opportunity to purchase suits from Indochino. Again, not a true custom, however the prices are a bit more considerable and they don’t make you pay for extras such as functioning buttonholes or monogramming. And there are a lot more customizations that are available. The measuring process is a bit more in depth too. Again, great review. 😀

Thanks bro! Yea I still believe it isn't a true custom and I don't think they are intentional about deceiving people. A name change would be great to highlight what they really offer. Like you said it's pretty much suit seperates that the in house tailor can tweak a bit. Haven't got Indochino yet, it is on my radar and they have more "customize" option for a fraction of the cost. Thanks for the sub, good to see another former Tailor Brands employee going deeper in the style journey

People confuse Custom Suit with Tailor Made their is a big difference. When you have a suit Tailor made the person that does your Measurements is the same person that's going to make the suit. So unless you like the sound of Custom Made its just an off the rack suit Technically. To a trained eye you could have gotten a better fitting suit off the Rack. Tailored made always more often than not will give you a better outcome Because their are a lot more measurements that have to be considered. You are going to pay more but you will also get a better outcome if it's the right Tailor making your Suit.

I worked at men’s Wearhouse and sold over 100k in custom every year before pandemic.. whoever did your custom should’ve put you in classic fit pants because of your thighs and would’ve made the adjustments in the system to taper them from the knee to the bottom.. st the end of the day for $395 “custom” suit with lifetime alterations is the best value in the store. The custom Jospeh abboud is the best, those start at $799-$999 after pandemic those will last 15-20 years.

Great example of the style journey. I also started w/ MW way back in the day when I felt like my go-to wardrobe needed to advance from printed tees, baggy jeans, sneakers to SC, dress shirt, ankle boots. Huge positive difference in how 1st impressions went and improved bottle service lol. ALT Cory....I've always felt Suit Supply is better than Indochino. (To me), the Indochino suits look like they use the same measuring/tailoring methods of the military. I'm an army vet. There's something about the Indochino suits I don't like. I can even see it on the male model's they use in their ads. But that's just my opinion. I had one suit I bought from Men's Wearhouse. It wasn't a bad suit, in fact, I'm looking at it right now as I'm typing this. But the tailoring they did was not all that good. The suit was good,..but personal tailoring, not so good. In photos I look very boxy in the suit, and the sleeves were left too long.

Most people that makes custom suits in men's wearhouse do either because of the quality or the fit and don't really know much about suits so when you make a suit with them they skip some of the options that most people wont really understand what it is or why they would want it or not, also most employees don't really know the advantages and disadvantages of those options. If you want more personalization options you need to tell them that you want to see what is available to you.

Couple comments... First, you can't really judge the fit of any suit if you change your shape over time. FitMan conceded that he gained some across his chest and in his abdomen/waist areas (which may explain some weight/size gain across his hips, as well), so no suit that fit him a year earlier is going to fit the same way after weight/size gain/loss. A good tailor, however, will ask questions about and understand your weight patterns, so a bespoke suit will be made so the tailor can modify the fit a bit over time, bringing areas in or letting them out as your weight/shape changes. Does Men's Wearhouse offer this service of follow-up tailoring? Also, was this a Made-to-Measure suit or a Bespoke suit? Using the word "custom" can be misleading. A M2M suit matches your measurements to existing patterns, while a bespoke suit has a custom pattern made to your measurements. If it was M2M, it may explain some of the fit issues. The judgment should come in the materials and the way the suit is made rather than the fit because we don't know how well it fit a year ago when it was made. The shoulder area just below where the sleeves meets the roping is off, with a dimple on each side, as if the shoulders were cut a bit too wide. A well-made suit would have a seamless flow from the shoulders down the arm, save some customized roping elevation. The waistcoat length looks good, as you really can't get any taller. Some things you can't see in the video are the quality of the materials used and the craftsmanship, ie how it was made. After just a year, is the material holding up? Is it fading or wearing thin in some areas, based on how often its worn? How is the stitching? Finally, each individual man has his preferences... both in the fit and in the details. Some guys, myself included, prefer details such as pick stitching on the lapels (which this suit doesn't appear to have) and turnback/cuffed sleeves... but this is a personal preference. I believe MWH does offer these types of details. FitMan also chose a contrasting thread for the lapel hole and the end button hole on the sleeves. These tend to be signs of a M2M/bespoke suit, but personally, I don't prefer this detail. The working buttonholes are also a sign of M2M/bespoke in most cases, as it's quite costly to have a tailor adjust the sleeve length for an off-the-rack suit and add working button holes... having the contrasting threads are somewhat of a "hey, look at me... I'm custom!" but again, that's a personal preference. The end all is whether or not FitMan likes his suit. Aside from the shoulder issue and the slight weight/size gain (which can be corrected with some minor tailoring), the suit looks good on him. If he feels good in the suit and he likes it, that's all that matters. And the cost is also based on his individual perspective... if he thinks it's worth it, then it was worth it. Others may disagree, and that's their perspective and choice. At the end of the day, 99.9999999% of the time, an off-the-rack suit isn't going to be a perfect fit, so tailoring is going to be needed in some regard. A bespoke suit, made by a reputable tailor (my personal preference is Henry Poole on Saville Row, London), is always going to be the best option for the combination of fit, detail choices, and material choices... but it's going to come at a cost. (And notice how I said "reputable tailor"... choosing a less-than-stellar tailor won't cut it.) A made-to-measure is a great choice for many guys at a lower cost because you can still choose your materials, details, fit, et cetera. The only difference is that your measurements are matched with an existing pattern which needs to be altered, which is what happens when you buy an off-the -rack suit... the suit basically fits based on your chest size and length... but it needs to be altered to your exact measurements. And of course, there's the rare instance when a guy can pull a suit off the rack, and it fits perfectly without the need for any tailoring/adjustment. As far as cost, $395 for the MWH "Joe" collection of custom suits is a pretty good price for a custom suit, at least for young professionals just getting started... considering a decent off-the-rack suit is going to run $200-300 plus $50-100 for tailoring, $395 is a good price. The expanded Abboud collection starts at $895 and is a good price for a "next level up" custom suit, with more material choices. If you're going to pay $500-700 for a higher quality suit, plus the cost of tailoring, $895 is a good price to be able to pick out your materials and details, and get a great fit. Thanks, FitMan, for the video and review... you're definitely a dandy who knows how to dress!!!

I have used other made to measure services and I had the same issue I see with your suit. Many of these services tend to take your measurements and apply a slim/modern cut to the suit. That generally means for me that the suit is cut far too close to the body and is simply too tight. If you are a muscular man who packs on muscle, the suit will show even the most modest weight gain. In my opinion larger fit men should consider a more classic fit with a tailored finish so as not to look too boxy, but not constricted. Slim fit looks good on muscular men for only a season or two, a classic cut will look better longer until it wears out or you out grow it.

I think they look good except there is something pretty common with most of the brands in America is that the armholes were too low. I could see when you raise your arm up the whole suit got lifted up. For a custom suit it should not be like that. I would definitely recommend go talk to the store.

The problem with men's warehouse, is that you can barely know the tailor more personally since there are more than one of them working on your clothes. I don't even remember their names, one is an old man and the other is a middle age woman. I only remember the assistant manager who is really cool but he was more of a stylist than a tailor. I love the idea of having a personal tailor who works on all of your clothing, like the old days
