The first student was absolutely brilliant when she first performed, no qualms whatsoever. Later with all the inputs she sounded even more beautiful, and this just goes to show there isn't just one good way to play a piece, and the teacher was bang on in helping her see the various other dimensions to the piece. Bravo to both!

Absolutely loved the interpretation of the 4th Beethoven Sonata! This girl played it with fire but also with utmost care, it was wonderful! And she played so in sync with the pianist!

This first student is flat out gorgeous. My daughter used to go to sleep to this piece every night. It was the live recording with Perlman and Barenboim. This violinist definitely did justice to this piece. Pianist was wonderful as well, lovely collaboration!

Terri Bora About your first sentence "This first student is flat out gorgeous." Do you mean that her playing is gorgeous, or she is? Your other sentences talk about the music, so you might be referring to the music in your first sentence, but this is ambiguous, as you said the student, not the music necessarily, is gorgeous.

She's obviously talking about the music. Your comment adds absolutely nothing to this discussion.

Nelson Cheng definitely the music! 😁 not that she's unattractive or anything . I should have phrased that better. My thoughts were faster than my fingers.

Matthew Chow It could be interpreted either way. Even the author, Terri Bora, said that she have phrased it better. Your comment is unnecessarily negative, in my opinion. I apologize if I sounded I was being critical.

Just love it, when the "students", play better as here, then the so called "Masterclass" teachers. This happens often I notice, as the teachers just have, to show they know better. Sometimes of course, but not always!! Remember that! This first student, playing Brahms, is absolutely a stunning player. She feels the music!!

Even if that was the case, it doesn’t mean they can’t benefit. It’s enough when the teacher nails one single aspect better and pass on the knowledge. Violin is so ccomplex, there’s always something to benefit from. You can put two equal players in a room, let them criticize each other and they will both benefit. If anything Pam has more experience.

Usually these teachers are sightreading the music they are teaching, so give them a little credit. And their job is to teach music, not technique. These students already have perfect technique.

Lovely sound, but in the opening section my impression was the pianist felt it needed to move forward a little more and she may well have been right as it would help to provide a contrast with what comes later.
