Do you have a list of all the part numbers. This is a fantastic video. Did you delete the flap motor and use a resistor on the cable?

back in the days when Mercedes made good cars they put the oil cooler on the outside of the engine. Now they are becoming more stupid at an alarming rate. also pressure washing the engine makes it much nicer to do the job.

The best or nothing! .... used to be the best! ... now it's nothing! Das Beste oder Nichts- Karl Benz and gottlieb daimler would have heart attacks if they saw how these wolves are running the car company with greed and the blue collar employees like Scheisse with their warranty pay times ! (Warranty will pay the technician 8 or 9 hours for this job ) Cheating the name of Mercedes Benz and selling it out for corporate profits! Because they listened to Chrysler! And people like Mike Jackson the ex ceo of autonation, who also happens to be on the federal reserve board of directors. But what do I know! I drive that same w212 e350 bluetec myself lmao!

People!! make sure when you put the inlet manifold back on you replace the 2 o-rings for the coolant. I didn't and had to do the entire job twice as it leaked. For the sake of around £5 save yourself the first time round. If you pause the vid at 13:23 have a look at the part numbered 40 that's what I forgot

If anyone is wondering, it’s something related with the brakes. Mercs with SBS brakes do not have that and is totally normal.

Fast work! I like that you included the clock to give an indication of the time required but what took you 10 hours might take me 30. Are you suggesting at 13:26 the swirl valve actuator O-ring be replaced but the control arm be disconnected, and at 13:49 that the EGR be replaced?

Looks like the oil was top of the cooler. Not around it. So probably leaked from the intake and turbo and not from the cooler.

Agree. Very common fail. Orange rubber should be replaced. Otherwise wear and tear leaks occur. Happened on mine.

the chain life should be as along as the engine in service , but to find out if streched you can see the tensionner fronm the oil cap opening see if it's too far out , then the chain needs to be replaced

I don't know if you noticed this or not, but some jack-leg mechanic evidently removed the swirl flaps from your intake manifold. This will cause slow throttle response, poor low-speed torque, and decreased fuel economy. When they added EGR to these engines, the swirl flaps was one of the necessary additions to make the poor engine drivable again. Time to buy new left and right intake manifolds and swirl flap actuator!
