In my country, this engine equips the premium bus chassis like O 500 RS 1836 (18 tons GVW and 360 hp) 4x2 and OC 500 RF 2542 (25 tons GVW and 422 hp) 6x2

O500RS 1836 (made in Brazil) was replacement for O500R 1836 (made in Spain).

These O 500 RS RSD U UDA MDA and so are basically the same OC 500 RF (raised floor) LE (low entry) LFA low floor articulated) RFA (raised floor articulated) and so on.. These letters are just different languages. Only slight difference is the suspension. The one assembled exclusively in Brazil doesn't have independent suspensions

Good powerhouse, but tell me: do you think these are more reliable than the Actros' V6 unit, the OM501?

+RangelSotero According to my experience, OM457 is more reliable than OM501... OM501 always get a overhaul at about 400k kms(Cylinder head wrecked), but OM457 with no problem for running over 600k kms.

Hmm...as expected. =) Mercedes-Benz actually replaced the OM501's unit in the Actros sold here with the OM460, I believe...or it's a different version, but certainly based on the OM457 which's manufactured here, while the 501 had to be imported from Germany. They also did this to allow easier purchase options for buyers...

They do look similar but the D2866 uses an inline pump, OM457 uses unit pumps one per cylinder ? Also they sound different. Is it the same base engine as the MAN, that would be interesting.

+王信淵 This engine comes from a MB Axor. However this engine also applys on Fuso Super Great Euro5 export versions.(Japanese version's 6R10 is based on MB OM471)
