Does any one of those systems monitor and react to traffic signals? Can the car come to a complete halt and compute who's right of way it is at a 4 way stop sign? More than 50% of crushes caused by impaired driving happen at intersections.

But I guess reducing someone else's chances of getting back to their loved ones by a little less than 50% could be a positive thing. I'm with you my man. Sweet ride.

I must admit this is very cool and the technology behind self driving cars (or in this case semi autonomous cars) is very interesting. But personally I'd rather just drive for the fun of it. Although I can see how this would be great for a long cruise (especially at night).

Hello, very nice video. At the very end when the collision prevention assist system kicked in, did you have to press the brakes to avoid rear ending the other car in front of you that was stationary? As it showed on your screen that distronic plus turned off.... please advise! thanks!

Nice video, how do you adjust the maximum and minimum speed range? When I turn on Distronic Plus on my '14 S550 on the highway the speed range on the speedometer is in a tight range of 50-67MPH. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Does the steering assist engage automatically? Or do you have to turn on the steering assist function yourself?

Why do you have to touch the wheel throughout the video. And why did the car beep and brake after the stop sign, why didn't it slowly stop as it did earlier. It seems you have to manually adjust the steering throughout the vid.

Hi Skylar.. Nice video.. i am planning to buy a new C Class so its good to know that there is an option for the distronic steering assist. But what i wanted to ask you is that how long can the car be standstill before you have to tap on the gas pedal or touch the cruise control button for the car to start moving again ?
@skylarcrush6667
9 жыл бұрын
I'm not aware of a time limit. I have personally been at a light for over 5 min. The new C class is incredible you won't be disappointed!
@farshid7
9 жыл бұрын
Wow. 5 mins is awesome. The reason I asked is cause I saw couple of KZitem clips in which the reviewer clearly mentiones that more than 3 seconds of car being in standstill mode forces the driver to depress the gas pedal or press the cruise control button.

***** Thanks Skylar.. i recently purchased the S 500 Coupe in Jan 2015 and its simply mind blowing to see how the Distronic Plus operates. Though i have noticed that sometimes after my car is in stationery position the car doesnt continue driving automatically.. seems i have to make some settings in the distronic plus But thanks anyways for ur detail and brief video.. Truly appreciate it :)

From what I heard self driving cars from Google does all of it stops at 4 way crosswalks, monitors traffic signals everything. The technology is slowly filtering down to us. But this is huge, a first in the public being able to have a self driving car even all the features that this car has is a lot. I presume in the next 10 to 20 years they will have self driving cars with GPS and with drunk drivers it will probably still be illegal in the car and will pull them over to the side and either call the police and then give them a ticket. These are exciting times with technology with cars.

pretty sure your not suppose to take your hands off the wheel. The system is not meant for that. Isnt it called assist not auto for a reason? The responsibility not to hit oncoming traffic is yours. not the drivers aide.
@StormFlank6
9 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are not suppose to take your hands of the wheel but why would mercedes advertise a car that can drive itself in traffic to a certain degree? In the case of the S Class you can take your hands of the wheel,even though it's momentarily.
