A helpful hint I learned was when dealing with a difficult Phillips screw was to dip the tip of the screwdriver in valve grinding compound, which is silicon carbide abrasive and grease, it will give you that extra bite to keep the screwdriver from camming out. A small container will last a lifetime, and it works great also on Allen head screws when you really need them to come out

Very nice! I always liked that chrome door trim on Mercedes, adds to the bank vault feel.

I'm looking at a Mercedes 300sdl diesel in Phoenix, I like the big cars. I'm surprised at that Coupe that the door panels are so cheap-looking, with simple stretched vinyl that's kind of puckered. I'm currently sitting in a 2003 C240, it's a real rust bucket underneath from Vermont unfortunately, but it runs and drives so well. What a shame, close to going to the junkyard. The rear backing plates are just toast. I wanted to fix the emergency brakes, but the backing plates have to be replaced

That would be a simple door panel to fit a nice piece of new leather to it. I agree, the vinyl is rather tacky.
