To ensure my selected knobs shaft had the correct curvature for my 1990 4 speed auto, I chose the R129 version.

Great and useful video, thanks! You can refurbish the old knob yourself. There is Planty of really working “paints” on the market. You simply sand the leather down with relatively fine grit, use color fluid and than lacquer as finish. I have done it on steering wheel and it came out really nice😉

Thanks, now I know how the wood comes out so I can swap out my power window switch that I bought the replacement for (it’s been sticking). My shifter knob is even more worn then yours but I kind of like the look.

The gear shift nob on my 1992 w124 was worn out so I used a spray paint if I remember correctly its Rust Oleum (black leather and vinyl spray paint) to restore it that was 2 years ago it still in good condition

The OEM non-leather version may be a decent alternative, it can be found for more reasonable prices

If you find that you want an OEM shiftknob I'm happy to send you a nice used one. I'm not a big fan of thoose newer aftermarket ones myself and I think your car is way too nice to have a cheesy knob like that!
