Great video. Gave me the confidence to do the job after being totally derailed by there being no switched power in the fuse box at the end of the dashboard! Getting the cable through from the fuse box to inside the car is not too difficult if you follow fupa's suggestions. I fed some heavy duty insulated earth wire from the back of the fuse box to the inside of the car. After some wiggling, it appeared and I was able to tape my power cables to the earth cable and pulled it back through. Ended up being a lot easier than I thought. Thank you.

excellent. Glad the vid helped. Here's to all those who hate cables dangling from the dashboard and power sockets :)

Thanks very helpful to find a switched live, fishing wire through was easier than I thought. I got a hardwire kit for 20GBP for my Nextbase Camera allows you to piggy back any fuse with no cutting wires, very easy.

This video was EXACTLY what I needed! I have checked the local car parts store and they have the fuse splitter you use here. I will get it tomorrow! Thanks!

Cracking video, gave me the confidence to try this myself. Just one question, how do you get the cable from the engine bay to inside the car? I know in the video you say behind the wiper arm. but from looking at it yours is left hand drive, here in the UK we're on the right and I cannot find the insulation, or anything for that matter to get into the cockpit. Any help very much appreciated.

the fusebox goes straight down into the interior .once you remove the whole top of the fuse box you can see it

@@fupabox Thank you for the quick reply (and to a video posted over 3 years ago), much quicker than me actually doing it. Worked a treat, I now have Bluetooth connectivity to the old, but good stereo.

@@fupabox Just as an aside, do you know how to remove the side air vent? I'm hoping to run a charger cable through it into the space underneath where the new power supply is. Or, do you have a better suggestion, I just want to see as few cables as possible. Thanks once again.

Hey there you got snow up there yet? Anyway the HVAC issue was a faulty actuator I can get to it from the glovebox and underdash I plugged the air line and its working so I will wait until the next issue to fix it. Which is that the blower motor delays in coming on. The ccu shows bars and on but it comes on later, getting more later. Should I replace both the HVAC motor and regulater or one of them? Ty as always man!

+William Z sounds like an issue with the brushes wearing out..when they get worn it takes a lot longer to ramp up to the proper speed..once moving the slight wobble keeps contact so it seems to run fine. no snow yet . Fingers crossed for a late winter :)

Great video, that's what I needed! Is it difficult to pass the wires inside the interior fuses box?
@fupabox

no it's pretty simple.. the wires just pass through from the outside fusebox to under the dash

+fupabox Dude... You know how I got it so cheap? The auction marked it as "non-driveable" because the parking brake was on and the release lever was broken off... LOL!!! So far everything works great. Only issue is the intake pipe came apart in a few places in the wreck, it's not necessarily broken I'm just having trouble getting it to fit back into the throttle body and get the boot from the MAF back on the pipe...

The Stiver Haha.. cool.. those intake boots get brittle , especially from the heat the m113 engine puts out. not great access back there either.

Can the brushes be replaced like with a cordless drill?
@fupabox

+William Z they are replaceable...I have seen them for sale on ebay .UK but not in North America. I'm betting if you took the whole motor to an auto starter/ alternator rebuilder , they would have something suitable.. I have just always found a $20 wrecking yard part that works just fine

I ordered a new motor off Ebay and if when I take out the old one I can grind down some of the brushes that I can buy here then I will send it back. If it conks before I get it will do your spring trick!
