This guy was spot-on I came to my wit's end until I saw his video my boat was diagnosed in about 2 minutes it was definitely a slave cylinder hello also like to add that your oil pressure switch will cut your fuel off and it will run and leak gas down your cylinders into your oil pan if you leave your key on and your oil pressure switch

Great video. For what it's worth you can take the 12 volt wires off the solenoid stud. Set your meter to Ohms and energize the coil side to see what the contacts read. If you read an ohm value more than continuity, it would justify replacing the solenoid.

Superb video: explained and demoed well. ..ie, How he diagnosed the defective the SLAVE SOLENOID that did not allow current to get to the neutral kill switch on the transmission.

Thanks for watching! Was dealing with this intermittent no-start for years... should have fixed sooner. :)

Had the similar issue last year where when we were out on the water boat wouldn't turn over. Checked all the normal safety switches to ensure the lanyard wasn't pulled etc. of course being on the water we didn't have a meter to actually test anything. I was able to jump the solenoid and the boat fired right up. The problem was intermittent the rest of the day. This weekend I will be actually trying to finally diagnose the issue and I will now start with the solenoid to see if that's my issue. Thanks for the video, very informative.

I was just going to ask because mine just started acting up today Mercruiser 5.0 not cranking intermittently. Can jump the solenoid just to get started if I am out in the lake?
@DrivingIntelligence
Жыл бұрын
You can do that, but be very careful. When jumping, you create a spark and as you might know, a spark in a boat can be catastrophic. Gas Fumes will ignite and cause an explosion. My recommendation is to get it fixed asap.

This video was very helpful. I have an 89 Supra with a similar problem. The solenoid is making a buzzing noise and starter not engaging when jumpering solenoid poles. Starter and solinoid are new. Can you help?

Thanks for checking in... difficult to diagnose without seeing the boat. Are you sure the starter was installed properly? Only thing I can think of is either a faulty part out of the box, or something is obstructing the starter from spinning causing the noise. Can you remove the starter and try to start it off the engine to at least rule out the starter as the problem? Sorry I can't be more helpful at this point!

I'm having issues with no starting or nothing on my 94 ski centurion falcon. I have power. No kill switch on this boat. I've replaced the 50 amp breaker and no change. I replaced the solenoid and the same result. When the key is in the on postion, it has a buzzing noise. I don't see any fuses. I do notice there is an oil pressure switch above my oil filter. If I unplug the wire, the buzzing stops but does not crank on still. I ordered that and the neutral safety switch. I hope one of those fixes the issues. It's been a head scratcher for me.
