Where does it leak from?
@doctoordan
4 жыл бұрын
@@TNRVG ; well there is big aluminum block with a Schrader valve on it (Labeled MERAB CHJ, I think it’s the fuel control guts) that has a rubber hose (drain line) that leaves the top of this unit and exits via a bulkhead fitting in the bottom of the cowling between the transom and the motor. Had it in once during the warranty period and the fixed it (?). It’s happened twice more but seems to stop on its own eventually. There is never any gas inside the cowling it just dumps it out and it runs down the motor mount and into the water or on the ground if your flushing it. If you have the problem you WILL smell it. The 60 came out way before the 150 so yours probably won’t have this issue.

Its best to find a cruising speed that is not wide open throttle. I don't remember what that was on this boat/outboard. I never really drove it that far either. 10 miles max usually stopping places on the way. If you install the bluetooth module I think it shows your gas usage. Find the MPG that keeps you happy, on plane, and conserves on fuel.

Check out Hinckley’s new 35 Picnic Boat with twin 450 Yamahas. Most inboards were designed in the fifties and Only updated with electronic ignition, fuel injection and computer control and diagnostics but they are still old style engines. Yamaha has been refining all their outboards but they are still based on Mercury’s and Evinrudes of the 70’s. Only Mercury has made the investment in totally new designs. I am I wrong?

Looking at a boat that has this motor and noticed it would trim and tilt all the way up on the trailer but under power on the lake it would only trim up maybe 1/4 of the way. I couldn’t fully trim the motor up and would only do maybe 5000rpms Got any thoughts?
@TNRVG
3 ай бұрын
With any boat full trim while at full throttle will make the boat porpoise. You have to find that sweet spot where the boat is smooth and the RPM is maxed. Although its not recommended to go full throttle at all times. Takes to much gas and can blow the outboard eventually.
@TheSaneRider
3 ай бұрын
@@TNRVGI understand how to trim up the motor, but it’s not currently getting to max rpm’s. The trim will only go up about 1/4 of the way and then it stops like it hit a limiter and won’t physically lift up anymore. My last outboard I could adjust up and down completely but this one stops about 1/4 of the way rather than allowing me to get up to max operating rpms. Believe I should be getting up to about 5800-6000 rpms rather than 4800-5000 give or take. Wasn’t sure if there was some special button on the controls or something that would allow to trim up higher or if there was an issue w the boat.

No, you want the cavitation plate to be skiing across the top of the water. That's the perfect height. If it is below the water then the motor is mounted too low and it's causing unnecessary drag.
