@superhawkn - thank you for your helpful comment. The reason for not running at higher rpm with a hose/muffs is mainly that the engine isn't under any load, which can cause thermal runaway. If you notice, it wasn't for more than a couple of seconds so neither this nor cooling would be a problem. The carb was clean, it just needed readjustment. Calm Down Dear.

chops that right keep rpm under 1000. On muffs because its not got no load on it. Sir

just remember if it ran good when you put it up the carbs are not out of adjustment just dirty/gummed up. Fuel stabilizer running through before you put it away for the season also some seafoam at the same time will work wonderful .

Well gonna take a guess , sounds like it's running on one cylinder , either power pack , coil or blown cylinder.

the smoke's OK: it's a 2 stroke. carbs needed another clean IIRC - a professional sorted it in the end in an hour. golden spanner job.

1st u need 2 do a compression check on all 3 cylinders,if that looks good u need 2 check or replace ur stator coil under the flywheel,ur ignition coils or ur fuel pump.fliters..run it n remove the sparkplugs the 1 thats clean isnt firing & also run it n see which sparkplug is the coldest that 1 isnt firing ither..when it comes to igniton those 90hp only have 3 parts, stator coil,igniton coils n sparkplugs...

Hello there...what was the fist for the timing? My motor is running like crud! Sounds the same as yours did in this video. Thank you in advance.
@kentaylor5228

First off its idling to slow and second its getting bogged with excess oil. Replace the oil injector valve. They will allow to much oil too burn off at idle creating a rough idle. Thats as long as the compression is equal. Try it.

First off . I would pull the plugs spray a little oil in the cylinders. Next is get fresh fuel with the proper mix. Turn over by hand a few times. Try to start it. Dont use ether.

Hi Gerald, although it had another carb clean and leads, I believe the power pack /cdi or trigger was a problem. It was a long time ago now I’m afraid.

Joe Fish I do have an slight advantage I'm a Mercury mechanic since 83' seen alot of dirty carb's. Three things you need .#1 GOOD COMPRESSION.#2 GOOD FIRE . #3 CLEAN CARB'S. IN That order. Save time and money. thanks Joe for the reply.
