Because of what his one is, and the story behind it, I agree, what a project to bring back all the way, and take it back to the original owner. Personally, I would be glued to the TV just waiting for each segment as the car transforms into its former glory. I think you would find 200,000 subs, which would soon be 300,000. Do it man bring her back.

Find a parts car , put an interior back in it , replace all the glass and weather strip . Rewire and lights . It's worth it.

As brutal as that car started, it looks like you have a pretty solid frame and shell to work with, and a drivetrain that sort of works...very impressive you've already gotten this far with it, and looking forward to seeing what's next!

Phoenix from the Ashes! Being a 1972, it deserves to be saved. I enjoyed the whole video. My own 1971 Beetle suffered from an engine fire - destroying the whole rear of the car both inside and out. Today, this is a Show Car and no-one knows about its fiery past......Please continue to bring up to new condition with updates. What a project! Greetings from Australia.

That’s one awesome car that doesn’t want to give up just yet. One idea to consider is rust preventative paint inside and under the frame. Then clear coat the rusty body it might look cool as a hot rod.👍

I'm glad you guys are giving this thing some more life. I'm amazed how well she took the heat. I'm a volunteer firefighter and have seen a lot of cars in much worse shape after a fire. No structural integrity left, can barely get them on a tow truck.

I owned a 71 Comet GT when I was 20, I am 63 now. I enjoy your channel very much. Can't wait to see it on power tour. It was a pretty dangerous car for a 20 year old with it's non-power drum brakes, no weight in the back. 302 2 bbl was 210 hp and 300 torque combined with it's one wheel peel diff, 3 speed on the floor.

Glad to hear the owner is okay - really feel for the guy though, losing his high school car. I imagine it would be like losing a beloved pet. Still, at least he knows the car survived the CoPart yard and didn't end up as a cube. I'm getting mad max-esque vibes with this thing - keeping some level of surface rust on the car would be awesome, maybe combined with new chrome, treated to look the same way the wheel rims do. I'm thinking a charcoal grey interior too, for obvious reasons. :P Congrats on the 200K too Mike. You and your dad totally deserve it.

I have owned a 1970 Maverick that now has a 347 roller stroker, posi and pumped up 3 spd automatic for 29 years. I have had a number of cool cars over the years. I have gotten more comments about this car than all of the others combined. There were soooo many of these cars back in the day, and you never see them any more So many people come up to me and tell me about a family member who had one with great memories.

Your channel is not about building pristine show cars it's about showing people what you can do yourself with simple tools to keep your cars alive. So even though it may be impractical to continue working on this car you really need to do it to show everyone what is possible.

So many memories !! a little not my Mom and Dad that how has adopted me at the age of 5 in 1972 and they drove the one and only comet to pick me up from adoption in the 70's omg !! They are the best parents that anyone could have !! Sorry !! this one brought back a lot of great thought's !! Thanks again !!

This reminds me of the film Planes Trains and Automobiles 😂. When their hire car was burnt to a crisp but they were able to drive it to the Motel. When they got out their buts were grilled on the seat frames😂😂😂

A totally burnt glossy patena could look possibly really cool if you put the elbo grease into it to make her shine! I really like the shine juice the Vice grip garage uses. I have found it to be very effective in bringing out the colors of the metal . Food for thought….. ?

I began watching the first episode thinking it would be a simple case of seeing if it can be made to run and then scrapping it. But as you’ve persevered with getting it driving, like others I really want to see this restored now. Either as is, or back to original for the previous owner to see. Honestly the best thing I’ve watched on KZitem in ages!

When I graduated in 1973 I traded my 1970 Mach I on a 1973 Mercury Comet GT. It wasn't as fast as the Mustang but I did enjoy that car!

A quick vacuum out, some old seats plexiglass sides ,old screen new suspension bushings etc .some poppy's patina cream it's done . But do the tour. then you guys are good enough body men to restore it back to a yellow gt .great video guys

Your inspiring me. My super clean square body suburban burned up pretty bad in a fire a few months ago. I’ve wanted to go through it just enough to get it running, driving safe, and start using it again, but as a crispy cruiser this time round.

At least they have put on new tires to replaced the charred bare rims on the 1971-1977 Mercury Comet. I like the 1960-1969 Mercury Comet better. My favorite 1963 Mercury Comet with a small block V-8 engine is a slant back 2 door hardtop. Vent wing windows are standard on this model as I have mentioned.
