When was this filmed? Mid or late 90s? Wow, no stab vests. The old Ford Fiesta. The old livery of Merseyside Police. I'm guessing this is before the introduction of PCSOs. Probably when they were enough police on duty.

Takes me back to my time at Copy Lane 1992-1994, in the days when the public understood and respected the role of the Police, and most of all understood that once the Police were invovled that the end of the road had been reached.

I got held in cells overnight many years ago when a mate of mine got into a fight and I was innocently dragged into it. The strangest thing was the two coppers who arrested me soon came round to the fact that I was innocent but because another lad was being flaky they couldn’t let me go. Instead I was given endless supplies of coca cola and tea, food and even some puzzle magazines. One of the bobbies even popped in every 40 minutes or so for a chat. Was telling me about his experiences at Glastonbury the year before when he saw The Style Council. Turned how he was a big Paul Weller fan. We actually stayed friends for 10 years or so before he moved to the other end of the country and we lost touch. Nice guy. Just seeing clips of this sent me straight back to the grim, bare cell. At least they were sound. And I was released and driven home first thing in the morning

The type of "policing" carried out by the "Happening Boys" I doubt would be part of police culture today. The other officer that worked alone seemed to have a much better approach to what must be a difficult job.

Firstly, the documentary in question is called Night Lives and is better to watch than this measly clip. Secondly, since when was Birkenhead part of fucking Liverpool? They're two totally different places...separated by the Mersey.

I observed her place an item with a value of £1.89 under her coat? 😱😂. Imagine that happening 2day? Get nicked 4 wasting police time,if a shoplifter is detained as they attempt 2 leave store without payment 4 goods in their possession and cops r called, unless the value of said goods exceeds £200 then they won't bother 2 attend. If it's 4-5 bottles of spirits worth between £80-100 they find on shoplifter they will take goods back, ban the thief from the store and all other shops of asda/tesco/Morrison's etc but not call old bill.

I will add this video on my social net page and add that the Merseyside accent is the most difficult British English accent. 3:25 PS all these accents are killing the idea of an international language. One can only rack their brains if they are not native speakers.
