Great reaction! From a guy who was born in '69, and was a DJ of rap/dance/house in the 80s and 90s, I really connect with your appreciation of Ren's/The Big Push's music. I think this band is phenomenal, and Ren is a true artist in every aspect of the word. His music transcends all barriers. I've been a fan of Ren for quite some time, and am loving seeing you dive down the rabbit hole. Much love to you and all the fellow RENegades! ❤

Feeling the music is what makes a great performance. If you're up there looking bored the crowd feels that and they walk away. And then there's the energy coming from the crowd which in turn fires up the band. It's a symbiotic relationship that's pure magic! I am totally mesmerized by them. Thanks for watching! ❤

Romain has a new album out this week, I believe. The drummer's name is Glenn Chambers. Ren, Romain and Gorran all swap around instruments and all sing. If you want more awesome Big Push busking, I recommend Wade in the water / Nina simone / Trouble so hard. Also, Ren busking with Sam Tompkins is great. Really, just pick anything, it's all good! Speaking of Elivs, Ren did an Elvis cover 3 years ago (Can't help falling in love). Apparently it was his nan's favourite song. It's beautifully done.

Dude! I am a huge John Denver fan. Before Ren he was my favorite artist -- well, when I was between the ages of 12 and 18; then I got to college and discovered New Wave and Punk and Bruce and Elvis (Costello) and Blondie and the Pretenders and King Crimson... But for the first part of my life it was John Denver all the way, and I've never lost my love for him. He's always been my No. 1 -- until Ren. It's not just a great voice, amazing song writing and musicianship. It's something about their hearts and their souls that touch me deeply. Totally different men in totally different times, but just Wow! Thanks for letting me know it's not just me!

Didn't really 'get into' John until I was much older. Same with the other bands you mentioned. I got into mainstream, New Wave of British Heavy Metal back in '82 (Priest, Maiden, etc) then I discovered Metallica before they released Kill 'em All and it was deep down the underground metal scene throughout my teens and twenties. Discovering Ren and The Big Push has that same feel. the same vibe that something very special is happening. Being on team Metallica and not team Bon Jovi meant being outcast but now look at Metallica! And look at what's happening with Ren right now. We are definitely on the right side of history.

@@BemusingBill came here for Ren and Bob Marley, stayed for your good, entertaining commentary, subscribed when you said John Denver, one of my all time heroes. The first song I remember hearing, around 1976 I think, is John Denver’s Rocky Mountain High, on a car trip going back home to Colorado and Mom saying something about us being Rocky Mountain kids. Just played Annie’s Song at our wedding in May, and several others including Fly Away, For You, and a few others, at the reception. A major part of the soundtrack of my life! Phenomenal reaction. Thx. 60 yo Aardvark (troubled vet) here. Ren and The Big Push has captivated me like no other since I dropped mainstream early 90s. I felt all the raw authentic music I liked so much was lost with autotuning and overproductions and withdrew to 70s-80s stuff. Finding Ren 10 months ago was revitalising old passion. Been surfing YT for other talents and vibing with Renegades since. Never watched reaction vids or enjoyed Rap before and now I like many other it seems just can't get enough of reactions to Ren. Love this piece - along with their rendition of "Wade in the water/Trouble so hard - probably my faves. Hope you´ll get around to it eventually. Subbed.

The big push was very much a street band, with talent, and doing it to have fun, the guys always seems to enjoy their time, and have a good time, this must be the period i heard Ren say, we played 5 or 6 days a week on the streets, and sometimes 6 or 7 hours, so that sure tells how much of a street band this was, awesome!! and im pretty sure this time in Ren´s life, is how he actually got this good, and as divorce as he is today, no better teacher then the streets.. at same time no denying he already got lot of talent here, just saying the streets was a good teacher for him.

It was always cutting your teeth, or paying your dues, in the club scene. The Beatles were the 'house' band in a club in Germany for a long time playing almost every night of the week. But alas, the music scene is dying for live venues. Even where I live a local club is shutting it's doors (today as a matter of fact) that has hosted a lot of big acts for decades. So, bands/musicians have to perform out on the streets. It works very well in the context of Ren/Big Push because of their music style but can you imagine a band like Metallica? Slayer?!? I don't think so. Luckily, the technology is available to make street performers able to play electric instruments with amps and microphones and monitors whereas, that didn't exist until fairly recently. For their style, it's an advantage to play on the streets. It introduces a lot more people to their music than being in a club playing at night. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

I was born in 53, so have grown up with incredible music. Ren got me hooked fast. He is a once in a lifetime artist and a beautiful human. He has a place in my heart. One other younger artist who got me is Billy Strings. He is like Ren in the way he crosses genres, and has gone from county fairs to filling stadiums with his now 5 piece band. From bluegrass to Jimi to Sabbath. Subbed. I feel at home here.

Actually, I, m really impressed with their equipment. Technology has made it easier to be out in the streets as a full band. Street music has been traditionally acoustic (guitars, brass, woodwind and percussion) so the fact they can do this is amazing to me. thank you for your kind words and support! See ya soon ❤❤

The other versions of this are good too... it's just that some are only I Shot the Sheriff (not the mashup), plus this one has better film quality. It's from the same busking session as the War Pigs reaction. I can't imagine being there for both songs. Ren has great timing and spacing. He can do more with a pause that most playing a whole riff.

Absolutley! There is a musical term for that which escapes me now, but it's crucial for expression behind the song. I think the camera work is phenomenal. So well captured the energy of the band and the crowd and kept it as dynamic as the band itself. Thanks for watching!

The thing with The Big Push is that , while it’s easy to see the effect that Ren has on a crowd, the description of it states : The Big Push was a four-piece band comprised of Ren (bass & singing on “Sheriff”), Romain Axisa, Gorran Kendall and drummer Glenn Chambers. Ren, Roman, and Goran shared frontman duties.Jan 5, 2024 You can see this in the session with Wade in the Water/ Nina Simone/ Trouble so Hard

It's hard to believe that The Big Push didn't break through and become huge, because I haven't seen a bar performance from them and the crowd is always so engaged. Their cover of Fatboy Slim's Praise You (live in a subway/underpass) is very Beatles-esque. Ren does a convincing Macca at the start of that one! In Swan Song Gorran sings more but Ren plays a melodica. You can never predict what they will do! 😂

Excellent reaction, mate, than’ you. So nice to see you truly appreciate the music and their talent in making it. Great breakdown of their skills. REN is awesome, & they worked so well together. I know they disbanded at the end of last year, going their separate ways, REN to Canada for intensive treatments & therapies for his illness’s & to try to repair the damage done to his body & brain wrought by the years of misdiagnosis, incorrect medications & the untreated Lyme disease. I doubt they’ll reunite, but you never know, live in hope, eh? Have a listen to Chinchilla, she’s RENs female counterpart and has an amazing voice. Thanks again, love from Annie, in Cornwall, UK🙂🌸

Yes WOW! They're fantastic aren't they! I can see a whole Arena going off to this band - this mash-up. LOT'S of people are hoping The Big Push will get back together in some form and Ren has said there is interest from these arists to make that happen at some point. I gather most are doing solo stuff currently. Ren had to go live in Canada for many months to receive intensive treatment for the serious residual impacts of his chronic Lyme Disease. Just when he was taking off in his early 20's, and had signed a deal with Sony, undiagnosed Lyme made him essentially bedridden for several years. He said, despite this period of forced withdrawal, he wrote and wrote a LOT of music, in his head, on his system. When he finally got the correct diagnosis and treatment, despite bursting with creativity and desperate to fly out the gate, he then still had/has to carefully pace himself. Ren still lives daily with an impaired immune system and other musculoskeletal effects, chronic pain and fatigue. The fact that he has been as prolifically productive and successful as he is becoming is a real testament to his determination, and of course, his mega-talent!

Since you're a fan of voice and your other favorite voice was John on a total different genre front I would suggest checking out Aurora. Go for the live stuff - she literally leaves the planet in her songs and you can see her snap out of it at the end almost confused where she is. Very raw beautiful stripped down voice. Maybe start with Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1) - 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert version and It Happened Quiet (Live at the Current).

Thanks for the recommendation. I don't believe I've heard of Aurora. Very cool! I am a big BIG fan of voice, my friend. Starting with Plant and Rob Halford, Geoff Tate, Dickenson even outside the genre: Linda Ronstadt, Streisand, and Michael Crawford to name a few. I am totally intrigued by what you said about her, too. I put those songs and versions on the list. Thanks again and thanks for watching!

Hi! I'm a new sub and a huge Ren fan - a very new one - only this year - I agree with you: I thank the Universe for Ren. He's a breath of fresh air! Absolutely!! I think the Big Push split up as Ren knew he'd be in Canada this year for treatment. I read in some comments earlier on another reactors channel that Andrew Lloyd Webber watched his Money Game Part 3 and was seriously impressed with his songwriting and story telling. That's wild. I'm just sad I didn't find Ren earlier, but better late than never... been here this year from Hi Ren. It's been a blast so far. See you on the next one (you're doing a great job by the way. ps. if you've got a keyboard you can use that to rewind and pause, etc. You might find it easier) and 💟 from the UK.

Free Ren Radikal #1,328 here. Great reaction & I can hear the Mel Blanc in you. Love Story Part 3 would appeal to a rascal such as yourself, but the paired tracks of The Big Push’s original, Sweet Little Lady would appeal to you (the studio track music video and then the live, acoustic one-take version), though their other one, Why My Woman (not to be confused with Oh My Woman) might gain a ready grin as well. There are no wrong turns at Albuquerque in this schtick. Looking forward to your next one!
